It would have been Port Vale, alot of my mates are vale fans and when i first got into football i had the chance to go with them to watch vale or go watch stoke with my other mates.
Thank god i made the right decision

If Stoke City didn't exist, then it's pretty much a no brainer. You'd follow The Vale surely! Your local team! Newcastle Town are more local than Vale for me. Better standard too!

Would support the Vale to be honnest. My cousin and uncle tried to get me on the Vale back in 96-98 and I did go alot of games and no one would go stoke with me If this question stood for back then when Stoke and Vale we're big rivals, would you support them back then?

Kidsgrove Athletic, as i do now when not following Stoke, but it would be on a full on basis ,real grass roots football and i could not get more local, even played for them in sentinel cup finals at both the Vic and Vale park, happy days .

I'd support Reading as my fave player, Kitson, plays for them. ;D
Seriously, I do get to watch Carlisle a few times each season (my nearest league club) so I suppose I'd go more often and possibly become a fan.

Villa these days. Good ethos, good manager, good players, not a team that is 100% wankers. I work in Birmingham - the same cannot be said about their fans. Very poor attitude mostly.

Conna agree more mate. I live and work here too and their fans have turned into right fucking arrogant muppets! The sooner they get knocked down a peg or two the better! Conna stand the wankers!

If Stoke had never existed, then Vale. If Stoke ceased to exist, either Newcastle Town or Stafford Rangers. Agreed

I follow Stoke because my uncle (later found out he was not my uncle??) followed Stoke and took me too see them when I was a young boy. So if not for that I would have followed my dads team, Lincoln City

I think ,like a lot of the older Stokies it would have to be vale. As my father would think nothing of taking me to Stoke one week and vale the following week, when the potters were away.

Whoever my Dad and Grandad supported. I tend to think that no matter if "Stoke City" as an entity had never existed, "something" would have - whether "Longton Rovers" or "Fenton Town FC" to fill that space. If Stoke just went out of existence? It'd be tough, cause I think I would want to go with the local side, but that's Atlanta Silverbacks and they are rivals to the Austin Aztex.

Liverpool-as me old man is a scouse but i never really liked football until my uncle about 5 seasons ago had a season ticket with his mates and one of his mates couldn't go so he offered take me suppose he had no one else take the spot so i took him up on his offer and just fell in love with the potters the singing and the passion and now i have a season ticket and sing my heart out stoke is one of the clubs that you just fall in love with and instantly becomes apart of your life. so if stoke didn't exist id probably follow liverpool but more than likely never go i would of being a glory hunter so thank you to stoke city and the fans on that day that made me a potter and im glad i went now
