Name one player we've sold in the last 5 years, who you would have back in the side on Saturday?
Can't think of anyone ???

Did we technically sell Bangoura? If so, then maybe he is the only one.

It's debatable if you'd have Foster over Sorro this season But the fact that you can't name a player just goes to show a) How poor we've been over those years and b) how far we've come

yes Foster definately.
it was a good deal at that time & still accruing money & Sorro is fantastic for a freebie.
Foster is better though overall.

Technically we didn't sell him but Kenwyn Jones is the best I can think of.

Commons is a good player but would you really have him ahead of Etherington?
or would you play him upfront like Derby do?
no he wouldnt get in the side now imho.

Patrick Berger. Would give us that bit of creativity that we need.

Good and interesting post. I would agree with some of the above, Sergi surely he was good enough. A fit Peter Hoekstra (after all we only managed to sign him because of his injury record), another player mentioned who I believed to have it was our Sammy, just a shame he couldn't be bothered! Of course we all say Ben Foster now and why not! However, not many of us actually saw Ben in action for the Potters and those who did only caught him in the reserves or like myself in friendlies. My only memory of him was in pre season at Wrexham and that is only because we fielded three goal keepers that evening. Oh yeah, one player who would of defo of made it (if age was on his side) that is looks like most have forgot is Gerry Taggart. Infact typing away his cast my mind right back now and another player I would take is Gunnersson.

Roro, Gunnarson was shot when he left us mate imo, the fact he ever got Premier League football when he did, still remains a mystery to me. Before his injury, he was sublime. Afterwards, he was never the same player. As he is mate, he wouldn't make our bench!

Gunnarson was efefective & at times bloomin good (although more so in their promotion season) for Reading in teh prem imho.

If your talking about him now, than no I wouldn't have him, but if you are talking about him when at Stoke the first time around with us than yes I would take him in our side. The same goes for Hoekstra, Taggart and Sergi. Another player I would add, though I do highy rate Sorro is Ed De Goey.

Initially I thought the same as most others have: Ben Foster definitely, maybe Hoef & Commons too. Having had time to think about it, only Foster could be considered as good as / better than what we already have. We've definitely improved this last couple of years haven't we?

Carl Hoefkens and Ben Foster. Hoefkens struggles to get into the Brazil team, even though they've got the worst goal difference in the league

I would have loved to see how Adam Vass would have progressed at this club. I genuinely believed he could go on to be a multi-million pound player (which, of course, he still can).

There's no-one who's left us and moved in what you would call an upwards direction, with the possible exception of Foster.

Gunnarsson is a good shout, but i don't think he'd be amasing for us - Coppell liked to employ him in front of the defence, I think that's the only place he'd fit into our side also, I just don't think he has the discipline to play there for us in our system, and would probably only get a game ahead of an out of form diao.
Vass is another I would've liked to see stick around, based on nothing but the opinions of people on here.
Darrel Russell wasn't even as good as Dave Brammer.
