How people can come on here to try and justify why TP picks Cresswell and saying Cressy doesn't deserve the stick he gets.
The bloke is crap, contributes nothing, is probably the worst player in the Premiership (getting regular games) and he's on about £1M a year.
I have just read a number of threads and picked out these few "pearls of wisdom" (paraphrased to keep it relatively short):
"I can see why he picks Cressy. He sees him as the steady option" - any ideas on this one anybody? To me "steady" means not brilliant but not shite either!
"His work rate helps to keep it tight" - how many times have we been 2 or three down after half an hour when he has started?
Referring to not playing Lawrence instead - "I wouldn't play anyone who is not 100% fit" - I wouldn't keep playing anyone who is crap! Match fit or not, how could Lawrence do any worse?
"Prodigious work rate" - resulting in sweet FA!!
"Fine proffessional" - resulting in sweet FA!!
"Good attitude - plays wherever TP tells him to" - well that's OK then. Pick him every game. ("clutching at straws" comes to mind - if you can't find anything good to say about him, say any old crap that can be vaguely construed as positive)
"Lawrence was crap in the few games he played" - Cresswell has been brilliant in all his games has he?
I particularly like this one - "He's a good time-waster" - you couldn't make it up could you?
"Richard Cresswell certainly does have good qualities and I think the majority of Stokies recognise and applaud them" - I've yet to here a convincing theory about what he actually "brings to the table"
"Cresswell is more effective and useful in set pieces than anyone else playing wide" - evidence is a bit lacking on this one.
"Has ability to score goals" - are they saying he just chooses not to use this ability then? He is not good enough to score at this level. End of!!!
There is not one person on here who dares to actually say he's good enough to play in this league. That says it all!
The fact that Cresswell is still getting picked is becoming a sick joke and I for one will not be bothered if people boo him tomorrow (if he plays). I know it's not his fault but if it gets him out, sometimes the end justifies the means!
If we get relegated (which is highly possible) I'm not saying it will be just because of Cresswell but it WILL be one of the main reasons. The league we are playing in, is regarded by many as the best in the world but we continue to make it even more difficult for ourselves by picking a footballer who can't play football.
If TP is not careful, his blind stubborness could end in tears.

tor, (sounds more apt!)
there's 20 odd thousand who would "play as a Stokie" if picked but we'd all have to play at once to have a chance wouldn't we?
So can I take it you're happy seeing Cresswell "play as a Stokie are you?

I like the way some pundits describe players as honest. As opposed to......lying, cheating, thieving bastards I suppose. If someone described me as honest when I played I'd have nicked their car for taking the piss.
Also You missed "He's a smashing kiddy" thats my fave.

You say last year it was Mama, but even those slating him last year would admit that he did bring something to the team. Cresswell on the other hand brings the sum total of sod all, and isn't likely to suddenly step up a notch like big Mama has!!!!

The funniest thing is that you've spent time argueing that Cresswell is rubbish, and have gone to the liberty of typing an essay against peoples defence of him, when you could simply come on here on a saturday at 5pm after a draw or defeat and 3/4 of the moaners would back you up. ;D
I don't think Cresswell is premiership quality, and i don't think Cresswell thinks he is premiership quality, and i'm sure Cresswell is as suprised as most fans that he is starting numerous games on the wing.
Let me just quote you,
' for one will not be bothered if people boo him tomorrow '
Let me you just remind you that it was his 14 goals that contributed to our promotion.
I've not booed any Stoke player in the past, i wont start tommorow, if he starts he'll get my support, TP picks the side, and he and the players have earned my thanks and respect.

Lau, (if I may be so informal)
Normally I am quite chilled but for some reason that all changes when the "why does Cresswell get picked" subject comes up. It seems to upset my biorythyms.
With regard to the piss-taking, I thought that was just good old-fashioned banter and no offence was taken.
