I was just speaking to a Villa fan that went their game against Everton recently.
He was telling me about a couple of songs they were singing. They went -
He got hit by a bus He got hit by a buuuuussss Joleon Lescott, he got hit by a bus!
Also
The elephant man The elephant maaaaannnnn Joleon Lescott, the elephant man!
I know it is just pure and simple abuse, and I don't usually condone that, but I did have to chuckle to myself and was looking forward to the Everton game.

Thats terrible, it must be bad enough for this Julian Lescott bloke to keep on getting confused with the Everton & England defender Jolean Lescott, but to then suggest he has also been hit by a bus is beyond a joke! ;D

The difference is, Ronaldo is a player who's done a lot to turn people against him over the years. Lescott's never done anything wrong, he's a good pro who gets on with the game. His accident was terrible and wasn't his fault, so I think it's unacceptable to give him grief for it.

yeah the songs are simply pathetic. Obviously Everton fans arent innocent of singing crude chants, but these are a bit sick tbh. I dont see why fans sing about him, redshite fans sing about him too, but hes not an irritating player, or an arrogant player. Why mock such an unfortunate accident? Thos fans who can see these purile chants for what they are, are the real football fans imo.

Cheshirestokie, If you find those chants amusing it is a great pity you aint been hit by a bus. They are not amusing just sick and dreadful taste.

But our chants of Paedo to Dave Jones weren't sick at all, were they?

I think every club has chants which are a bit too rich to be honest. For example Everton fans singing 'Oh Steven Gerrard...The Baby's Not Yours', Liverpool fans used to sing chants about Lee Carsley's disabled children, various fans sing about Munich etc etc. These sorts of chants go beyond rivalry and 'banter' and only serve to degrade the image of the football fan.

I can't see the problem with these chants whatsoever.
The problem is where to draw the line. Chanting about death, disabled kids is not on. Chanting you've been hit by a bus or the baby's not yours I can't see the problem with.
Perhaps fans should be issued with 'allowed' songs sheet before the match. All part of the conspiracy to take the game away from the common man.

Really? You cant see the problem with chanting 'you got hit by a bus' to a man that was in a horrific car crash when he was a toddler and now has slight facial disfigurement from it and nearly died. You think thats ok yeah?

You think thats ok yeah? It's a terrible accident but so what? He survived and has done something with his life and turned into a decent footballer. Jesus, some people are so precious. What about the 'wash yer mouth out son fetch your fathers gun and shoot the Vale scum' Is that OK or does that offend. What about 'he's only a poor little cockney..' no? Ronaldo you're a wanker - is that offensive? And I don't hear Lescott whinging like some mard-arse. He's too busy picking up his forty grand a week. Here's another one - what about when Chelsea came to the Brit a few seasons ago in the cup. LeSaux, he takes it up the arse was belted out by virtually every one for the whole 90 minutes. What about that one?

haha alright pugsley I see your bringing great reason with our posts ;D. The fact he survived is irrelevant mate, he stil has disfigurement and probably badly affected by it. If it was your son or your father that had endured the accident Im sure your views wouldnt be so crude on the matter. Think about it, your not mocking him because of footballing reasons (which is probably whyanyone should mock a player) but for a horrendous car crash...brilliant!

To be fair Cheshire didn't know.
There was a feature on him and his brother on Star Sports here last week. Seems a real decent bloke to be fair but noticed he always wore a beanie everywhere he went.
Everton used to sing a song calling Gary Mabutt a 'spastic' so some of their fans not exactly saints either.

Basically, what Pugsley is saying is that the line should be drawn where HE thinks it should be drawn - and anyone who doesn't see it HIS way is being "precious" ;D

I ain't mocking anyone mate and personally I wouldn't sing it. I just think that it isn't as bad as people are making out. Like I said, it's about drawing the line. Nasty things are said at football, get over it - I'm sure Lescott isn't letting it bother him. Football has been dumbed down enough as far as I'm concerned. Basically, what Pugsley is saying is that the line should be drawn where HE thinks it should be drawn - and anyone who doesn't see it HIS way is being "precious" ;D You've found me out ;D I think a lot of hypocrisy is spouted about singing at football matches.

i personally wouldn't sing it, because lescott is a player who i admire in this current climate of knobhead footballers thinking that they are untouchable, he is one lad who seems to just get on with his football. and he does a bloody good job of that as well.
but what i can't understand, is why people on here wouldn't sing that, yet WOULD sing homophobic chants towards Sol Campbell? surely aren't they equally as offensive? i mean, if people want to sing these songs, whatever. I personally hope other people won't, but in my eyes they really aren't as offensive as, for example, some songs sang by Scottish and European club teams.
So in short, i'm not quite sure.
Sitting on the fence again... but let me throw this question out there. If Cristiano Ronaldo's missus (don't know if he has one at the moment) gave birth to a baby boy, only for the world to find out it was mentally disabled, would certain sections of the crowd at matches sing about it??
