Sentinel articlewww.stokecityfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10310~1576433,00.html donations can be made here www.justgiving.com/stokecityfcscfcrob has contacted me and asked to include the following: - "Longthrow does the Longride" scfcrob from Stoketshirts.co.uk has offered his services to help Rory Delap and Donna Louise Children's Hospice to try and drum up some much needed funds for the great work they do. As you may already be aware, Rory and a team of 8 others are doing a bike ride from Newcastle (upon Tyne) to Edinburgh on the 17th.,18th. and 19th. of June. It is to be covered widely in the media, both locally and nationally, and has already sparked wide interest. The Sentinel's Dave Knapper is doing the ride whilst also reporting on it, while Sky Sports have indicated that they will continue to report on it after their attendance at the press conference on Thursday 28/5. Rob's aim is to get Rory and his teams cycling kit sponsored. He is looking for donations of a minimum of £200.00 to secure two areas on the cycling top. There are various areas of 130mm x 130mm space available, front and back, both sides and his very famous arms for which a slighty higher donation would be expected. He also has an opportunity available to sponsor the team’s shorts – a sole “shorts sponsor” would be expected to donate a sum in the region of £500 to secure this. All moneys donated will be direct to the Donna Louise Trust, with no deductions whatsoever - Every penny raised will go directly to their charity. Please contact Rob directly if you or your business are interested in supporting this great cause. You can contact him via email on longride@stoketshirts.co.uk or send a pm to scfcrob via this messageboard. If you aren't able to sponsor Rory and his team, how about organising your own sponsored bike ride to raise funds for the Donna Louise Children's Hospice? You could get an exercise bike in your place of work, gym, school, etc and be sponsored as a team to cycle the equivalent 170 miles of the coast and castles cycle route. Rob is also looking to organise a post event celebration where all sponsors, supporters would be invited. This is in it’s very early stages and is not 100% definite yet, but if it does take place then you or your company would get an invite. If you are interested in being at the end of the route on Friday 19th. June at Edinburgh castle then please pm Rob. If there is enough interest then he may organise a coach. Thanks for taking an interest in this very worthy cause

Good for him, nice to see that players aren't all off sunning themselves in exotic places in the close season. Good way for him to keep fit too.

In fact I've just emailed Mr Wright with this... Hi Ian, I know in the past that you haven't had a good word to say about our Rory but I thought you may be interested in the story in our local paper about Rory's second charity bike ride for a local hospice. I realise that your family connections may have got the better of you when you made your comments about Rory just "throwing the ball and kicking people" after his clash with Shaun but I can tell you that the bloke is a proper pro who, after Stoke stood by him after he broke his leg in only his second appearance on loan for us, has forged a real affinity with both the club and local community. If only all professionals could be a bit more like him instead of the moody, self centred individuals who only look at clubs as a pay cheque. It would be great if you could publicise his bike ride to help raise funds and awareness and I sure a few of the coppers that TalkSport pay you wouldn't go amiss either. Please have a read of the link below and watch the video. www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/news/Stoke-City-star-Delap-cycle-Scotland-Treetops-hospice-VIDEO/article-706742-detail/article.htmlThere will be a collection at the Stoke vs Portsmouth game on Saturday as well so hopefully us Stokies will also dig deep for a great cause.

Top Bloke, our Rory!
If anybody finds out of ways to donate, would appreciate a thread starting. Give up asking the club anything, they'll probably say "who's Rory?" ???

Well done Jamo. I wonder what the response will be? While ths topic's been raised, I will be donating some more £££'s to the DLT Trust when a new link is up. Sales of Longthrow stuff carried on doing so well after the last donation I made, I reckon it's appropriate to add some more as Rory is putting foot to pedal once again this year.

£2000 raised by last years ride.
I think we can beat that don't you?
It's tough for all charities at the moment, so I'm going to be supporting a great player, a great local cause and a great club by chucking in a fiver for Rory.
Gooooaaaaarn!

I did a charity bike ride myself last year, with a few work colleagues at the bar I work in, for Treetops and the Air Ambulance which pales into insignificance compared to Rory's (mine was Stoke to Rhyl, about 75miles).
He's got my utmost respect, the last thing he'll feel like doing on the second day is hopping on a bike!
Fantastic organisation which deserves anyones pound.

We'll see Nick, it will be good if the DLT could get any kind of publicity out of it and maybe we might even get Wrighty to take back some of what he said about Rory (although that's only a side issue.) I'm taking the family away so I probably won't get to hear the show tomorrow or be able to pick any emails up until Saturday so I hope it gets a mention. I'm not 100% sure how he will react, I hope he's big enough to admit he's wrong and the DLT will benefit from it but if he's anything like his sidekick he won't want to admit he was wrong. Here's hoping he's a big enough man.
