Jesus everytime England get a chance it's like watching a group of spacktards (nod to RAF). Definite case of a backwards step, if not a trot or canter. Embarrassingly cack

Bit of a reality check. For all our progress under Don Fabio, the team we put out tonight just wasn't in the same league as that Spain side. Put it down to experience and move on, but we were poor, no denying that.

Couldn't give a flying fuck about England and if it wasn't for Ryan Shawcross sitting in my living room and stating that his ambition is to play for England then i wouldn't have wanted him to represent England - Why?...It's because England just dont interest my-self any longer and my club will always come first.

In terms of football under Capello we ain't moved on,it was a mixture of Stoke away and West Brom 11 men behind the ball and then pass it from defender to defender then the keeper.
Rubbish full stop.

Cappello has improved us massively in making us more patient with our build up play and making sure we keep the ball well. We weren't great at either of those things tonight though.

Again IMHO when we did have the ball we passed it acroos the back, maybe thats down to fat Frank being useless SWP not being able to pass. Maybe we don,t have the players anymore when Carlton Cole is leading the line you have to wonder. Agreed, under FC we have at last started to play like an International side.

Whilst not a massive fan of our national team, it's great to see some exciting and in-form players picked instead of the old boys network. Jagielka, Glen Johnson, Carrick, Barry, Agbonlahor all players in fine form that deserve to be there. I'd liked to have seen Rob Green start in between the sticks as well. There's no doubt that our first choice lineup would consist of fat Frank, Gerrard, Owen etc and whilst these players look great on paper, they've proved that they're toss as a team. the in form players had a mare though I thought, Johnson has probably been consistantly top class for Pompey this season but tonight was woeful, and not on his own. At the end of the day we were given a footballing lesson, I dare say it would be different if it was a meaningful game, players tend to pull out that extra when it counts. As for Becks, he looks fitter than he has for a long time and for me should be leading this team. And don't even mention old calamity James, that ball he dropped ;D ;D That made me laugh above though re Downing / Creswell ;D ;D ;D

This is what makes me laugh re England . If they were 2 or 3 up v Spain-a la Sven's first game then it's only a friendly and Spain weren't trying!!! If they lose then cue an inquest.

Spain are not euro champs for nothing they are certainly in the top 3 of world football and they had almost their best side out last night...as for England we have definitely progressed under Postman Pat and our form in the important games i.e. qualifiers has been impressive so impressive we have virtually qualified. As for playing players on form for their clubs...all well and good in a friendly...at least you can give them a game then cross them off the list as future contenders sorry but Jagielka, Downing and johnson are decent Prem players but not good enough at this level....and the midfield of Downing Carrick Barry Midget.......is so average its scary....but it was a friendly

I havent had any confidence or faith in the England teams for many years. The games dont excite me, dont rile me up like stoke does.

Friendlies are about the chance to try different things and see what does and doesn't work. Results aren't too important. In fact, to be honest, losing to Spain does us good. It shows that despite the clear improvements we still ahve a long way to go before we can match the standard we aspire to. If we continue to improve and work within the correct framework we can still reach a point where we can compete effectively on the big stages.

The defeat nips the hysteria in the bud and shows us that we're still very much a work in progress.
