Surprised anyone would read his collumn rather than wipe their big hairy arse on it.

Surprised anyone would read his collumn rather than wipe their big hairy arse on it. Agreed Swampy. His last game as a ref was at Anfield, on the last day of the season, and as the Kop rose to appluad the team's efforts all season, he says in his autobiography (I shit you not) "they must have known. They're such knowledgable football people. Some of that ovation might have been for me" Think again dickhead.

Proves what I've always suspected about refs- The retards can't even get it right when they have the benefit of a replay

A mate of mine wrote him an e-mail earlier in the season after the he was slagging us off after the Arsenal game. The e-mail and the reply are quite amusing...........
Dave has a query.
Just read your article (if you can call it that) about the Stoke v Arsenal game. I now see why everybody thinks you were one of the worst ref´s to grace the premier league. Stoke bullying their way to survial, what a cock you really are.
Reply:-
Thanks for your well thought out and reasoned argument Dave. I admire your loyalty/bias towards your team, but just because I have an opinion different to your does not overnight make me a "cock" and also make me "One of the worst Refs to grace the Premier League" . we are all entitled to an opinion.
Best wishes
Jeff

Jeff Winter is a perfect example of why we have such a poor standard of referees at the moment. It seems the only referees that make it to the very top are those attention seekers who believe the game is actually as much about them and what they do as it is about the players. The best referees are the ones who command respect and you hardly notice during a game sadly they are few and far between because the modern referee wants to be a star, wants to see his name in the papers and I believe some actually get off on seeing and hearing people slating them.
The FA back these clowns to the hilt, why because lets be honest incompetence isn’t just a problem of the referees it’s rife throughout the whole of the football governing body. They demand consistency and respect from players and supporters and yet they don’t obviously come under the same rules. They show favouritism towards certain clubs and individuals and yet will come down hard on those they feel have no power to hit back. It’s pathetic, a referee like Rob Styles can blunder his way through season after season and there seems no consequences for his incompetence or worse and yet the FA demand respect for these people. I think we as supporters and the not so fashionable clubs would have more respect for referees and those who govern the game if they actually earned it by governing the game in a more even handed fashion. If you feel that there’s one set of rules for some and another for the rest how can anyone feel any respect or trust in those who run the game let alone those who they employ to adjudicate matches.

YOYD it's good to know there's a pearl amongst the swine, that's my point mate there are good ones but we only hear about the worst and it's time the FA actually governeed the game for all and not just for the benefit of a few.

Did anybody read Winter's notes in the programme for the Hartlepool game? He was very complimenatry towards Stoke fans: he's always admired our loyalty, even when times were tough, and noted how vocal our support is!

I just sent him this, will let you know what I get back:
Jeff, re the Stoke Man City game - you seem to have missed Micah Richards push on Griffin before the defender dived in. You also missed that Shaun Wright Phillips should have been sent off for kicking Rory Delap, and you also missed that Elano should have gone for dissenting to the ref for about 5 minutes late on!
Just as well you gave up eh?
