He couldn't sign because of the weather? Birmingham to Stoke is such a long way these days If we only had a motorway and dual carriageways between the two places? Hang on a minute....

Not as dodgy as the Arshavin farce. He was pictued on SSN outside his London hotel in the morning yesterday, it said he was heading back home because Arsenal could not afford him. Then all of a sudden he is signing again, weather my arse, still negotiating more like.

Not sure what to think of this Kelly move to be honest. The line about him not being able to sign in time has all the hallmarks of a last minute decision, probably because we missed out on our first choice.
I hope it's not another player/wage into the squad who's not going to make much of a contribution.

This guy has made 2 starts + 3 sub apps for Brum this season...so I guess he's been injured for a good while? Does anyone know much about this guy and do you reckon he will replace Wilko straight away?

A torn thigh muscle does sound a bit nasty, but he shouldn't be out for too long, and from what I've been told by various brum fans (who are going to be a bit biased to be fair) is that he's a damn sight better that Wilko or Griff when on form. I'm excited about getting him, just a shame he isnt a CM Hi btw, please to meet you all ;D ;D ;D

Adverse conditions wtf.
The motorways in and around brum were mint yesterday, particularly the toll which was picnicable, obviously if it much hotter and err.... not a road :-) Having said I can only comment for the tollerneers not the common folk who use the M6.

rob dorsett says he has just spoke to stoke and we say we got the paperwork to them in time so have appealed to the premier league to sanction the transfer and we should find out later

Spurs fans liked him too. He'll be a very solid signing if we manage to get him.

It'll be like the good ol' days, when we used to sign all of our players from Brum. Overson, Gleghorn, Clarkson, Sturridge, Peschisolido, Downing, Forsyth, Gayle...

How many of our players live in stoke. I bet none. probs more a case he couldn;t get his sports car out his private road. :-)

From the Brum board....
The way I heard it was Stoke failed to sign Kelly in time for the 5 o clock deadline. You could only use the weather as an excuse if you notifed the F.A. before 3pm that this would be the case. As Stoke never notified the F.A. before 3pm, the transfer has failed. At the moment, Stoke are trying to appeal against it and get the deal going ahead again.

I have just spoken to my old gaffer, he's a devout Blues fan, He cannot believe they are letting him come to us, he said last season he was the most consistent player they had and he would be his first choice to play in a heartbeat. He reckoned that Sonko was supposed to be going to them but we have apparently pulled out? anyone else heard this?

Yes, we were going to let Sonks go there if we got our experienced CB in, which we didn't...so he didn't

At the moment, Stoke are trying to appeal against it and get the deal going ahead again. I can't see this being correct as the deadline was set at 1700 providing the FA has copies of emails from both clubs stating the transfer had been agreed in principle and that bad weather was causing delays. This was posted on the FA website (reported by SSN to) , there was no mention of 1500 deadline
