Bullard is a decent player but very, very overated hes like a media darling equivalent to Harry Redknapp.
Bullards play is beautiful on the eye deep in his own half but apart from the odd free kick what does he do in the oppositions?
Add to that hes 30 and has a dodgy knee.Hes not for me.
Have a look at his stats for the season.
5 million your havuin a laugh

Hev Kev, have to agree thats he's not worth £5m, but he did run the midfield when fulham played at the Brit. I'd of loved to have seen him play for the mighty Potters, but not for £5m.

Kev he looked great against stoke and yes he ran the show but way to deep.
He reminded me of a West Brom midfielder when they used to do 30 passes at the old Vic and get no-where.
Course hes decent but his stats are awful this season.
I prefer someone with a bit more drive, pace and hunger in their belly.Someone like a Sidwell.

If he plays deep in his own half, maybe that's where the manager has told him to play? There's no getting away from the fact that Bullard is a superb footballer (despite all his injury problems good enough to get a place in the England squad) and for Stoke would make the difference between Premier league football and the Championship next season IMHO

My reply to another thread but I think its relevant here.
I may have read this wrong but there was talk of add ons/installments of £500,000 a month for 12 months. If this is the case then I am glad we ain't in the running for him. As much as I like him as a player and person that is too much for a player of his age and quality. I am not to sure if Ledley would be a massive gamble for us but would rather risk Ledley than pay that for Bullard.

I would personally prefer Koumas more goals and assists out of him.

kev, IF he did make the difference between Prem and Championship football, the £5 million would be small beer.

My impression was that he was quality and would be a great addition.
However my old man's best mate is a Fulham season ticket holder and he says he is nothing like the player from a year ago (possibly due to the injuries).
Not that bothered now to be fair.

Yoy not at 5 million though mate with no sellon value. Theres better out there. Is there domestically though, Kev? Can you think of any domestic CMs, in that price range, who are as good as Bullard who would consider signing for Stoke? I think it'd be a major surprise to us all if he actually bought big from abroad, so the pool of targets is pretty small. £5m doesn't seem so much in the domestic market when you think we spent £3m on a waste of time like Olofinjana, then splashed another £4m on Soares and Tonge. And Cresswell's reported 19k-a-week certainly brings Bullard's reported wage demands into sharp focus. After all, we're probably paying Soares, Tonge and Cresswell 50k-a-week between them.

£ 5 million is a snip.!
Relegation £60 million.

Agree with mumf, 5 million pound for an England player who would of made a massive difference to our midfield.
he basically kept Fulham up last year, I wouldnt be surprised now if he goes to Hull and does the same thing

Its not the 5 million I'd have an issue with. It's his bloody wages, they're astronomical.

Agree with what you say FM, but using that kind of money in the domestic market is crazy. You can buy a lot of talent for £ 5 mill if you look in Europe. Will be interesting to see if Pulis finally does this now.

Great player, gutted that he's gone to Hull. Great professional, can hold and can go forward. His stats this year are down to the fact he's being played deep. With A Faye and Diao in our squad we'd have been able to let him play in the opponents half. Just hope that Tony has got something else lined up.

Bullard is worth every pound at 5 million, FullerMagic is spot on. He is a proven premiership class, and for that reason he is a bargain when the likes of Bellamy is apparently worth 14million!!!!

Why is it a risk, other than he might break his leg in the first day of training, like any footballer?

The only reason he looked good against Stoke if memory serves me correctly, is that we always backed off every time he had possession.
Any team who adopts that tactic when an opposition player has the ball will make the player in question look like a world beater, i personally am not fussed about this non-signing.

Hodgeson is no fool £11m (fee + wages) over 3 years
good player but not worth pissing off the whole squad for.

Hodgeson probably had nowt to do with it. Bullard had made it clear he wanted to leave, so they cashed in.
