Am I missing the point here or does anybody think that a break in Dubai is the correct reward for losing to Hartlepool in the FA Cup??
They wouldn't (shouldn't) be going if we had beaten Hartlepool.

pulis said with the weather we hadnt been able to do a full days training, surely a week in dubai doing 2 training sessions a day and general bonding time can only help the players, this is the time togetherness is needed and after yesterday he has some wounded souls to heal, i think its exactly what we need right now

They wouldn't (shouldn't) be going if we had beaten Hartlepool. they have not been rewarded with a trip to Dubai. They have been rewarded with a trip to Ras Al Khaimah. If you knew what RAK was like, then you would agree that its a justifable reward/punishment for losing to a team like Hartlepool.

Totally agree with you Deano........ But my point is that the players may believe that Hartlepool was acceptable, perhaps Benidorm is more apt!! Dubai just seems a little over the top!

Ever thought this was booked weeks ago and we didn't even want to get through the cup game. I certainly didn't and i said so at the time. Glad we lost. To all those that went Hartlepool, that's the gamble you take going to watch a third round FA cup tie at Hartlepool in the middle of a lot more important premiership season. Don't tell me, some of you would prefer we had West Ham at home in the cup instead of having a hard but should be rewarding training break where the players can top up their fitness levels with some hard work and players like Etherington, lawrence and Griffin get get their fitness levels right up there, whilst they all re-group ready for the second half of the season. I know which i would prefer and i know which Tone had in mind all the time, you can bet your last quid on that!

Training hard twice a day in 100 degree heat. This is a trip to build up stamina. For players like Beattie, Tonge and Sonko who haven't had a 'proper' pre-season it is vital to build up fitness. For those returning like Kitson and Lawrence it is to shake off the rust.
Whatever happens next week it has to provide the springboard to defend our place in the Prem.
Only downside is that I can't see us signing anyone this week. Especially after TP said late last week he expected one more in before Chelsea.
