Matt
That's the point I was making (I think) he's a big gamble Beattie on the other hand is proven at this level (although any signing is a gamble to some degree or other)

Alright, well done Hull and I don't want to rain on their parade but... Who is he? Has anybody really seen him play? Would anybody have been as nonplussed as me if we'd signed him? Would he get in our team? Ok I hadn't heard of Campbell either and he did well for them albeit in the CCC (hardly ripped up trees in the prem in a shite Spurs team though has he?) Don't know what to make of it but I'm certainly not suicidal because he's joined Hull and not us. Good luck to 'em bit of a gamble is my view. So you think Manucho is a gamble, but Beattie isn't??? STRANGE! ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? If you're honest mate, both signings are a gamble. I think that's a very good signing for you though, would have been delighted if Stoke had signed him. Finnan (if it happens) and Kilbane are decent signings too IMO, although I'd rather have Etherington than Kilbane.

I didn't agree with the comment of Manucho being overrated (I know not a comment made by yourself)

If you look back to my first post, I said we would have to see how things work out as you can never tell. There have been plenty of Multi-Million pound players that never work out......Bent??? As for Kilbane, it's not fair to campare him with Etherington as he won't be playing in the same position. He will be a left back for us and occasionally Left Midfield when needed. Ehterington is an out and out winger is he not? We have Mendy in that role.

Wigan fans seem unsure as to whether he can consistently cut it there. Who else are you looking to bring in?

he has scored 81 kidder, 23 in one season. A proven goalscorer. Yes, but that was all at Soton, kidder. When he wen to Everton he failed miserably. I'm not saying he won't score goals for you or that he is a bad player, but he is a gamble just like Manucho is, which is why I made the point.

We have both signed decent players, why don't we just laugh at West Brom?

I don't see how Hull can go wrong with this one, its a loan, so there isn't really any risk at all.
I honestly think our move for Beattie is a massive gamble - perhaps more so than with Kitson. Beattie may be 'proven' at this level, but then so was Kitson, and I think its fair to say Kitson has been a resounding and damning failure in every way. A £3.5m transfer fee, and a reported £37,000 p/w wages for 30-year-old who hasn't achieved in the Premiership since before his move to Everton ... I think this has to go down as a bigger gamble on our part than Hull and Manucho.
Here's hoping Beattie throws the stats back in my face ;D

At Everton, he was top scorer one season, poor in another and injury ravaged in another. Yes it's a risk, but you can't fault his pedigree.

Easy Tiger,
Put your teddies away. Have I dared to question the transfer wisdom of King Phillip of Orange.
Actually if you bothered to look I said in a later post that Beattie and every other signing for that matter is a gamble (look at Kitson). Kaka is the ultimate gamble for Citeh.
All I said is I'd never seen him play, know little about him except that he has played ONE premier league game for the shit and it remains to be seen if he can cut it at this level ergo a gamble!!!
Calm down dear its a STOKE mb.

Dupree
That one is certainly bizarre. I want to believe it is a brilliant tactical move by Supper Tone to bamboozle the opposition and put Hull off the scent of our intended target.
But I wouldn't bet on it!

It's a risk because if he turns out to be shit, once January goes, you've blown a chance to bring in a goalscorer.

That was a pisser pity the ref split it up. Would have loved to see Roy Kinnear getting a twatting.
Sutton. It's a risk if you gamble on him and have nothing else and he fails to deliver. I agree though loans are less of a gamble As we know well.

If he flops and we don't pick up with the goal scoring we will be dragged further into an end of season relegation battle! I could really do with a quiet season! We haven't had one since PT arrived! This is taking years off my back end!
