I forsee a problem. Although he is Nigerian by birth he actually plays for Benin - who must be well down the FIFA rankings. Would he get a work permit?

from teh complicated FA Page I picked something to suite...
Loans If a player is moving to another club on loan (Temporary Transfer) his club must notify UKBA of the fact that he has temporarily moved location. The new club does NOT need to make an application for an individual Governing Body Endorsement. IF the loan becomes permanent the new club WILL need to make a fresh application on behalf of the player.

He definitely wouldn't get one initially, would he? But would being top scorer in a decent European league like Sweden last year be enough proof of pedigree to get one on appeal?

FullerMagic, it SHOULD make a difference - "Big" clubs seem to have no problems in bending the rules and getting permits for players they can demonstrate are "top" players. The Swedish League is a decent league and top scorer must carry some kudos - I hope! But, of course, we are Stoke!

I must admit, I've written "fukker" instead of "fuller" many a time too ;D

Benin are 99th in the rankings so unless he holds some form of European passport there would be a problem.

I'd be surprised if he managed to get a Swedish passport as he only moved there in 2007.

It seems a loan could be the way to get him in. Otherwise, it is in the hands of the dreaded work permit committee, who are notoriously unpredictable, especially where we are concerned. If we did loan him, he would have to play regularly and be a bit of a superstar to justify a WP in the summer, I reckon.

Jezza, I'm sure loans have the same problems in getting permits as regular transfers. Wasn't that why Demar didn't go to Oldham on loan in the summer?

Benignity (from the Latin roots bene- = "well" and -genus = "born"), denotation as a medical term in medical discourse to describe a mild and nonprogressive sickness. The term is most familiar as a description of a non-cancerous (non-malignant) ( or neoplasm, but may also refer to other mild health conditions.
