I think this lad had a cracking game yesterday, he has passion for this club and one day will become an EXCELLENT full back.

Signed. His distribution may not be great at times, but he is a solid defender, and his commitment goes without question, he's come along way from that shaky performance at the reebok stadium.

If he is the skin headed deranged maniac that played at right back then i'm going to sign, just because he seems to be the antithesis of the modern football player. Man and ball into row z son!

Absolutely brilliant yesterday and against the shit until the red card! So committed and gives everything, there is no better sight than wilko steaming into a tackle and the opposition player rolling on the floor after!lol

He already stops the opposition like Lejic or Marsh used to do-no small compliment that- and if he can develop to be more effective going forward and distributing, and just kerb his impetuous tackles, he'll be a long time member of the squad.

hes better than carragher Carragher is a top centre back but a shit right back - so you're both right and wrong with that comment.

Some of the criticism aimed at him recently has been a bit harsh.
Yesterday he got to grips fairly early on with Riera, who spent most of the rest of the time he was on looking over his shoulder rather than concentrating on his game.
He got a bit of a knock in a crunching tackle in midfield and was still running it off which may explain why he got skinned so easily by Babel late on.
However, while defensively he looks fine he needs to be putting in double shifts on the training field to practice his ball skills and distribution if he wants a career at this level.

The thing is Griff will get straight back into the side i suspect and its wrong because wilko should keep his place

He did well defensively and it was a good foul (crucially he'd been sensible/played well enough to avoid a previous yellow) on the only time he got skinned. I was surprised that they didn't try and set Babel up for more one on ones with him as his pace is devastating. I suppose finding a way to him through our back 9 made it tricky ;D

By and large Wilko had a great game today but nearly lost us the match with one moment of madness just like against Man U. I prefer him to Griff at right back but his distribution is awful.
His pace however is a real asset . Just like a modern fullback should be.

I came on here after the ManUre asking the question did Wilko cost us the game which opened a can of worms. However moving on and talking about yesterdays showing, I cannot say one bad word about the lad - cracking performance and one he should always remember and be proud of.
