Pending signings have made us forget that there is the small matter of a match against the table toppers this Saturday tea-time. Personally, I cannot wait. The trip to Anfield was remarkable and I truly believe we can get something this weekend.
Etherington could prove to be one of the most important signings of the season and, in turn, could see the return to form of a certain Mr Kitson.
Liverpool appear to be without Alvaro Arbeloa so it will be Jamie Carragher who is given the task of keeping Etherington quiet. A good centre half but not quiet as effective as a full back.
Diego Maradona's trip to the Brit will surely be fruitful as Javier Mascharano will fill in for the injured Xavi Alonso.
So, here's my line up:
Sorensen
Griffin Ab. Faye Shawcross Higginbotham
Lawrence Whelan Diao Etherington
Harewood Cresswell
Subs: Simonsen, Sonko, Wilkinson, Olofinjana, Am. Faye, Tonge, Kitson.

I totally agree with that line up! Knowles.
There was a dude at the end of the hartlepool match, we looked at each other, shook our heads and escaped through the back of the stand... which proved to take for ever.. was that you knowles?

Well I did escape through the back of the stand so it could well of been! I was to the right hand side of the goal. I have faith (and hope) that Griff will pull through. If he doesn't make it, we must believe Davies will do better than at the Vic on Saturday

i suppose it could be worse than playing Davies...Imagine if Abdy hadn't had his 'suspension' rescinded? Wouldn't you think that he might have thought 'oh, hang on a minute...i've only been booked 4 times!'.......i'm just glad his talent is in his feet, not his head

I hope Abdy picks up a booking and misses Chelsea. I've written the Chelsea game off (despite Southend's heroics) so it would be good if he could sit in the stands for that one and get the suspension out of the way.

i dont know if anyone else has noticed but it seems Griff served a suspension recently when he was out injured, he got his 5th booking at Newcastle

tough match, really could do with at least 2 points from our next 2 games, I think if we play like we did V Arsenal and Man U at home then we're in with a decent shout, our only trouble is Fuller is missing, but maybe Harewood/Camara could step in?

insua out alonso out arebola out
a potential banana skin, knowles line up looks about right but would love to have ledley on the bench
with lawrence and etherington starting we may see a bit of football which will surprise liverpool expecting the hoof
if pericant is anywhere near the bench we are in trouble

I don’t care if we get the jammiest goal ever in football as long as we get something from this game.

with lawrence and etherington starting we may see a bit of football which will surprise liverpool expecting the hoof Can't see Liam or Diao starting on Saturday. I think Delap and Amdy will occupy those positions. It's starting to look like Harewood might not happen too, so Vince and Cressy up front.

If the Hare doesn't sign in time then Kitson will play alongside Cresswell.

Do you reckon Kits is fit enough to start?

Post by knowles on Jan 7, 2009 17:27:26 GMT
I don't think so but Vince's 'performance' at Hartlepool will have told TP that a half fit Kitson is better than Pericard. I really can't see Pericard starting on Saturday.

I really can't see Pericard starting on Saturday. Mmmmm...... think that's just cemented his place in the starting line up ;D

Surely we're better starting with Kitson and Lawrence and then if we can get a early goal bring Kitson off for Creswell when he's knackered and fill the midfield and hang on for the win . Either way Camara/Harewood or another needs to arrive before the weekend! Pericard shouldn't even be on the bench, the only decent thing is that from that performance at the weekend I can only guess that he's been told he's free to leave the club, he certainly wasn't trying for a new contract like he did for the reserves earlier in the season. The only way he can have a new contract is if he's score the winner the Liverpool and Chelsea over the next couple of weeks....saying that if that was to happen I'm sure a few would tattoo his name on their arse!

Alonso being out would be a big bonus. They didn't look half as good without him, second half against Preston. He ran the game first half. Well, him and Gerraaaarrrd.
