She'll get a few grand off the government and she'll be grateful for it as it's a lot of money in my family but it's just the fact that she signed for that money and now she's been told she can't have it. It's a fucking disgrace

Ricky.. sorry to hear of what happend to your mum If you have any chance to get out of S-O-T take it. You can always come back to visit. The key to staying employed today is mobility. My parents had it so much easier getting started in the 50/60s then we do today.

Me personally NOS, I'm trying to leave while I can. Looking into the possibility of emigrating to New Zealand to join some family of mine across there ASAP. I'm only 18 but after being across there a few times I love the place. Plus it might be the only oppotunity I have togo there with pretty much nothing. Time will tell anyways

'Blame it all on the free market economy' Why? Has that stopped people from buying Wedgwood? It's about as fashionable as an Austin Allegro these days and that's one of the main reasons why it's knackered. When was the last time you decided to buy any Wedgwood firsts? the demand for stoke-on-trent ceramics has fallen, but not as much as people think. 'potteries' china is still being produced on mass... just in jakarta instead. and that does come down to the market, cheap labour means higher profits, means no jobs for stokies. Ironic that this thread was started by a thatcherite, given its her policies which have decimated our key industries. p.s i know theres a petition going around calling on the government to secure the jobs with a small amount of the cash earmarked to bail out fucking bankers and creditors. signed it on saturday in hanley (by stanley matthews statue) - sure they'll be there next weekend! show your support

I left stoke at 18, the UK when I was 23.. that was 20 years ago. NO regrets. I can still visit and stay in touch. It does get hard when your family starts to age though, my nan is 95 and still going

Good people Sal? Don't make my already over-inflated ego explode ;D I know I'd miss Stoke-on-Trent but I've always said that my future does lie across there as I absolutely love the place and the way of living
