I think we should throw the boat out for a Striker.
I think someone like Rasiak from Southampton is attainable and would give us the extra 10 goals in the second half of the season we are looking for to gain promotion.
Goals win games.

Dont worry about a striker, Sidibe is gonna find his striking boots while hes away and come back to shoot us into the Premier.

still think the centre midfield area was our downfall today
but yes, a striker would would be very nice indeed, freddy eastwood like, young and t.p can nurture and put his arms round and call him "fred" would be a good bet

Billy Sharp at sheff utd, might be worth a look at, not playing regulary there, and he has a proven eye for goal as he hit, 53 goals in 82 games for scunthorpe, and he can also play on the wing aswell as up-front which could prove useful. Michael Mifsud, is a major outsider, but he would be well worth the money, he's a top player, and we saw at the brit he can finish He may cost about £3 million, but if coates is willing to really push the boat out, this guy would be a fantastic coup. Also i believe Derek Riordan is still a wanted man by championship sides, i think it would be well owrth well getting in there for him, proven goalscorer at hibs, but just hasn't been given a really run in the side at celtic, only 24 plenty of years ahead of him, well worth a look at imo. Ricardo Vaz Te, on loan is another possibility i think, he would prove a good signing, and megson would probably let us have him. Scott Sinclair from chelsea, and Daniel Sturridge from Man City, are both possibility's on loan. And failing all the above, maybe Matt Jansen might be worth a gamble, whilst he's currently a free-agent?

That Martin Paterson at Scunthorpe's got 10 goals already , young player, good prospect , eye for a goal, christ they only payed a few hundred thousand for him, what a bargin , some one got mugged there

I think our left wing problem needs to be addressed before anything. Cresswell nor Pugh can play there, and in my opinion it is our priority over a striker.

I wonder if £1m would get him?
RASIAK CONSIDERS SAINTS EXIT
Southampton striker Grzegorz Rasiak admits he is worried about his chances of representing Poland after his lack of first-team football at St Mary's.
Rasiak struck his first goal in four months as Southampton saw off Scunthorpe, but the Pole fears his lack of regular action could harm his international prospects.
Speaking to the club's official website, Rasiak said: "I always try to give 100 per cent for the club but if you do not play it is frustrating.
"I want to play in the European Championship finals in the summer and to do that you have to be playing every week.
"If the right offer for the club came in I may have to consider things. I do not seem to be playing as much as I want, but seven goals from 13 starts is not bad."
Poland qualified for Euro 2008 in emphatic fashion and with Poland coach Leo Beenhakker monitoring the progress of his nation's players, Rasiak hopes he can do enough to impress his new boss.
"I am very proud to represent my country and I am looking forward to the finals so I have do make sure I am in the squad," he said.
"We have a friendly against the Czech Republic next month so I need to be playing every week if I am to have a chance of being in the starting XI for the Euros."

Rasiak would be a great signing for us and I I'd say he is a realistic target. I hadn't realised that he was struggling to game at Southampton.
However, there is no indication that we have shown any interest him so I guess this really is just pie in the sky at the moment. I wonder if Pulis is in the market for another striker? I guess the only indication has been tabloid links to Harewood which are unsubstantiated. If these rumours are true and we are unsucessful in landing Harewood, surely TP must want to bring in alternative?

Rasiak would have been a great! But will they sell to us? He might be a bit expensive as well.

like someone else said on another thread, a big concern is the amount of goals we've conceded and that is a real concern
However when Fuller doesn't play we look very limited so straight away, Fuller off - lose 2 or 3 pts
Hull classic example because the players on the bench that day are crap

Did Hoddle sign Rasiak for Spurs (& then sell him)?
With Fuller going to be missing (& maybe more games if he gets suspended - not unlikely), with Mama away/off form/doesnt score anyway, with Crsswell not proving to be a top striker (harsh maybe),with Parkin a bit part player & with Pericard just being crap maybe now is the right time to go for Rasiak?
Saints will be looking @ re-building & have major finance issues.

I don't think Fuller will actually miss any games, will he?
The last time they had a midweek friendly in the Caribbean, he made it back for the Saturday game, didn't he?

I reckon any striker we bring in now (and the signs are that TP is looking for one as we surely can't continue with Mama "no goals" Sidibe as a starter) will be on loan from the Premiership.
Rival Championship clubs are unlikely to sell us a striker in January unless it is for big bucks, and any from the lower divisions will still cost a decent amount and also represent too much of a gamble in TP's eyes.
He will let the transfer window close and then seek to take a Premiership squad player on loan for the rest of the season.
