Very disappointing result today, i think we all knew city away was going to be a tough task, but the thing that concerns me is that by the sounds of it, city were also fairly average and yet have beaten us comfortably.
Sunderland at the brit on wednesday is a game we need to win in my opinion, Arsenal on the saturday is a huge task, a game we aren't expected to take anything from, so we need to avoid defeat on wednesday.
I still think we can stay up, i still think at home we are a force for anyone, but the home games coming up: Hull, west brom, fulham, sunderland etc.....we have to be picking up points.

TBH, Sunderland at home is the first real game we really should be getting a win from so it will be interesting to see how we line up and do against them...

Unbelievably important, like the Spurs game Sunderland's a must win if we're not going to be in deep shit by Christmas.

I agree, the first game i looked at when the fixtures came out, and expected us to pick up three points from was Sunderland at home, so it is very important, also for morale and that As for Arsenal, got to get at them from the start, they don't like it up 'em

In the cold light of day today we were always going to struggle to pick up anything, but a good win Wednesday will give us the belief we can get a result on Saturday KEEP THE FAITH

I think I'd be safe in saying that we are LUCKY this season, because the Premier League this season has (so far) quite a few teams who are very poor. Hull, aren't a great side, but because they have got their shit together, they are flying, that tells me how poor this league is this year. We win on wednesday, and we move up potentially to mid table, even with our poor start (results wise!). We definitely need to pick up points in the next month, if we do, we should move out of the bottom 3, and hopefully feel a bit more positive going into the xmas period, which as we know often tells you were some teams will end up at the end. I'm still positive we'll come good, results have been against us, but performances have been encouraging (maybe not all of them ) and I think the tide will eventually turn. Or we'll get disheartened and start to let our heads drop.

we have yet to have the rub of the green yet ( is that how you say it ) with our performances going for nothing really. im really positive about survival. because playing good with get us somewhere in a few games. and hopefully we can play bad and win. our never say die atitude towards the end of the season will be crucial if we not allready sunk!

Having listened to Radio Stokes commentry I resigned myself to the fact that we had been hammered! Having watched an hour on Sky I'm not so despondant. Yes we got done on the break but City are a damn good home side. There were positive to take definately, Still baffling is the Creswell thing......why????????? Roll on Wednesday and Sat, 4 points is a must tbh but not impossible.

TBH, Sunderland at home is the first real game we really should be getting a win from so it will be interesting to see how we line up and do against them... Hmmm... They have Cisse, Jones, Malbranque, Richardson, Diouf to start with and a decent bench of Yorke, Reid, Chopra etc etc... The are a strong team, they play dirty, and Keano will have done his homework... This game (outside the top 4 visiting) will be one of our toughest home games this season. I hope to God we win but I have "that" feeling my mates who support Sunderland will be taking a few quid off me - again I think we'll give them a hell of a game though... Higgy & Delap will want to get one over on them.... especially Delap after last time.

I'd say it's one of our easier games largely because Sunderland are very poor away. They didn't register a single victory on their travels until about March last year and were routinely hammered. This season, they've only won at WHL, at a time when Spurs were losing to most.
Of course it will be tough, very tough -all games are for us- and they have better players than us (other than AB Faye, I'm struggling to think of anybody from our squad who Keane would probably take?) but, if we are going to compete this season, we simply have to beat them.
With Hull flying and Newcastle and Spurs likely to pull clear of us (they've both been dire this season, yet have virtually as many points as us now), we have to keep pace with the likes of Bolton, Fulham, WBA, Wigan and Sunderland.

fek me you deluded bunch of tossers, we cant go into any game this season expecting a win what we can do is play to our strenghs and give it a go and hope that things go our way like they did against spurs. sunderland have had a couple of seasons in prem now that is why they have a much stronger squad.and that cisse is quality also did anybody notice that richardson hardly touched the ball on sunday and then he whacks that free kick in!! thats lesson one boys dont give any free kicks away near the area!cant wait meself think it will be a near full house again and should be a good game cmon stoke[remember last time we played them? hoping for the same result!]

Yeah they have travelled well away from home this season so far this is as tough a match as any and I will expect some uneasy moments during this match but I think we can sneak it...well I hope and pray we can.

mackemlad, where's the delusion? I said you had got a better (much better) team than us on paper and that it would be a very, very tough game.
However, surely it's not unrealistic for Stoke to see Sunderland at home as a winnable match? You have got a poor away record since promotion and, as somebody (FM?) said above, if we haven't even got a chance against Sunderland at home, we might as well not bother.
However, the fact is that we can beat you -as we have beaten Villa and Spurs and given Everton a run for their money.

The "delusion" comment comes purely and simply from your description of our away form as being "very poor" when it is actually one of the best in the league. Without bleating too much about it, last season was last season. We now have almost a totally different first team to that from last year. It is interesting that you have put us down as a winnable game though. Having said that I need to remember that none of you have seen the likes of Malbranque, Tainio, Cisse, Diouf as they have only played premiership football in recent years. I would still try to be optimistic in your position, because let's face it, that's is all you have. You might beat us, but it does not look that way on paper. Did you realise that Kenwyne Jones will be playing with Cisse?
