Somewhat disingenuous of you there kkkken, you really must stop believing Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly and Fox News. If you look at the news reports in the past on Riverside, California, which has one of the highest foreclosure rates in the United States, I think you will find that it comprises neighborhoods similar to yours, suburban and white. Are you suggesting that Clinton was putting into action a policy of affirmative action for the middle-class white population? It comes down to people and financial institutions taking bigger and bigger risks without a thought to a "what if" scenario. And there was no plan in place if it ever came about. Guess what, it has. And in the words of your hero, Ronald Reagan, or is it Theodore Roosevelt , "You ain't seen nothing yet." What is about to transpire is going to make the 1930s look like an economic boom. GM and Ford are teetering on the edge, in the next few months they could well go under to send a shockwave throughout the American economy and John McCain's small businesses are going to be in no position to take up the slack. And what happens when China decides to call in its U.S. Treasury bills and the Treasury can't pay? Not to worry, I am sure your gibbering idiot of a VP candidate, Sarah Palin, will have a plan. Invade Russia, perhaps? Bomb Iran? Ban abortion and contraception so that women have to stay at home raising countless children, thus freeing up jobs for the men? Gosh, won't life be fun, redneck heaven, in fact. Still it's better than voting in a "Muslim" and a "terrorist." I take it that it wasn't you who shouted "Kill him!" when Obama's name was mentioned at the Palin rally in Clearwater? It was also interesting to note that members of the press were not allowed to mingle with the audience at that rally to find out its reaction to Palin’s speech. Whatever happened to the Land of the Free?

I'm not an economist, and don't understand the workings of the financial sector (although have a feeling that much of it is smoke & mirrors). Given the massive salaries and bonuses of top City directors & executives, plus the massive pay-offs they get for failure ( ), why are they not being expected to contribute towards the cost of the bail out? That's probably a very naive comment I know, but they seem to be able to get away with daylight robbery. ??? One of the few things that I feel can be said in favour of New Labour, both under Blair & Brown, is that they have valiantly tried to tackle child poverty - often failed to meet their own targets in doing so, but at least they have tried. I wonder how much more they'd have achieved if £50B had been available to tackle child poverty?

Dallas - a smashing summary of the current state of play. I take my hat off to you, Sir.
Jukebox, I'm sure that the government will by trying to ensure that FUTURE contracts at the top of the banking industry are going to be written so that bonuses will only be paid for genuine performance which does not involve the ridiculous levels of risk we have seen in recent years. But I doubt if there is much which can be done to claw back bonuses already paid. If the government tried to do it they would almost certainly end up having to justify their action in the courts and I suspect that they would probably lose. The costs of the court action would fall on us the taxpayers so we'd be even more out of pocket than we are now.
It would be nice to think that some of the staff responsible for the biggest losses (and the members of the bank's remuneration committees who drew up the bonus contracts) would find themselves eased out of their jobs at the earliest opportunity - but I won't hold my breath!
We as voters will have to do what we can to vote in politicians who will at least demonstrate that they are serious about putting in place strong legislation to ensure proper regulation so that this sort of thing does not happen in future. And the regulations should be framed so that those responsible lose their jobs and their bonuses if a company does manage to slip through the net and trade in such a damaging way.

The fact of the matter regardless of who you believe made money from the sub prime loan market , Obama and the Democrats wanted low income earners the right to get a loan, even though they were not financially stable enough to keep up with making payments .
Organizations such has Acorn , who Obama has huge ties with wanted the sub prime market .
With the sub prime market created, it opened up the whole thing to anyone with bad credit , black or white.
The Obama biased media will not tell you this
Serpico you asked what is racist about refusing a loan to a low income earner(for the best part are black) ? Has Ali G would put it "is it cause i'm black"
I think you ought to brush up on your knowledge of Da reverend Jesse Jackson and his side kick Al Sharpton.Thinking about it i haven't seen him on TV of late, i wonder why ?.
By the way Serpico there are Ron Paul supporters here in Charleston with their Vote Ron Paul placards up in their gardens.

And you should be careful with what you're saying, especially with your name people might get the wrong end of the stick . Not to worry anyway, the federal reserve will just turn on the money hydrant and everything will be just fine oh... until till the dollar collapses and hyper inflation kicks in I'm just off to buy myself a big wheel barrow ;D I tell you what I'm wishing I had done at the beginning of Bush's term, bought stock in lockheed martin, exxon mobil, and Halliburton, the next time a bunch of red state fascists get elected thats what I'm going to do, because you can rest assured there's going to be war's and plenty of money to be made in the arms industry . This Presidential race is getting more interesting by the day...desperate even. McCain the elder trustworthy statesman V The young black buck...
I suppose their major doubts on both sides of the political divide as to the political strategy both sides have aimed for.I'm not sure which candidate will have benefitted most from this global banking crisis, but I suspect as I have from the very start that Obama will win the race as America looks to a new fresh start. The race card is something that I suspect he will overcome and many Americans admire him for his stance on the phased return of soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. The billions of dollars that is now being wasted on this pointless campaign would I feel, be better spent elsewhere. I am sure that Obama will milk this point for it's worth and this in itself should appeal to many Americans across all states.

This Presidential race is getting more interesting by the day...desperate even. McCain the elder trustworthy statesman V The young black buck... McCain "trustworthy" Google search "Ahmed Chalabi" and erm, "keating 5" for a starters, once you read about that you'll realise the error of describing him as "trustworthy" , unless you're referring to the over all fake story line the media plays into, then yes, I suppose those descriptions would fit, in reality though, McCain is far from trustworthy, you might want to read up about his time as a pilot as well, the son of a admiral who was handed chance after chance by the military but kept f-ing up because of his lifestyle, he was also a lousy pilot, cam bottom of his class, he was a worse pilot than even Bush he crashed 4 planes and one of the crashes ended up killing 130+ men aboard a aircraft carrier . www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/make_believe_maverick_the_real_john_mccainMcCain is also running one of the most grotesque campaigns in recent memory, and thats saying something when you consider the disgusting Bush/Cheney campaigns in 2000 and 2004, it's starting to get very ugly, people are turning up at his rallies shouting "kill him" and "terrorist" when McCain mentions Obama's name Obama is not talking about a phased withdrawal from Afghanistan, in fact quite the opposite, he has been talking about INCREASING the troop levels in Afghanistan, and has said that he favors military incursions into Pakistan as well . On Iraq he was originally for a phased withdrawal, but has increasingly become more vague about what he would do, and he is now talking about leaving a "residual presence" (Orwellian language for a Occupation/perminent military bases, the type that stirred up so much hatred that it led to 19 men, 15 of them saudi nationals, to fly planes into buildings) indefinitely, interestingly his position of Iraq changed since his meetings at AIPAC , and we know they want the US military ensconsed in Iraq for as long as possible, and they're not shy about saying it eitherI agree with that, but there isn't a lot between the two candidates on these issues, neither of them are going to stand up to the military industrial complex, no president ever has, McCain certainly won't, his entire campaign is practically ran by the MIC . Eisenhower warned about it, but did so on his way out of the door

I was listening to the radio and they mentioned some prick who owns a lot of banks and has some dodgy nickname. He has bought a load of banks, fucked them up but has had 6 billion worth of debt written off and 20 billion given to him to sort it out. But no bonuses for a year! Is it just me that thinks this prick should be locked up for a long time? How can You get away with running a company so badly and messing it up for the general public!?

As regards Obama,....Yes he has talked about about a phased withdrawal of troops in Iraq...That's the more specific point I was trying to make.
It's all political posturing for the Whitehouse Serps...Do You agree.?
Words , more words and bullshit.

The only hope he has left is if Osama Bin Laden comes to his rescue, even then I'm not sure he could swing it, possibly that combined with the Bradley effect, and maybe a squimish in somewhere like Ukraine, perhaps have the neo-cons stir something up again ? a bit like the Georgia debacle, he got a good bump from that one, for some reason McCain is held in high esteem when it comes to foreign policy, it baffles me as to why, but thats the power of the myth. Throw in some dodgy voting machines to boot, I suppose he could still win it, they are planning to try and steal it again, but it has to be a close race for them to be able to do that, the gap is to big at the moment, even electoral fraud won't be enough for him as things stand.

Come on, they've clearly been playing into it, talking about Obama "palling around with terrorists", it's dangerous language to be using in a heated election like this, they're using Hillary Clintons old smear tactics from the primaries, they didn't wash then and it's not washing now, and McCain is heading for the same fate as Hillary. You're referring to the second time someone allegedly shouted it, this one is from a week or so ago, McCain clearly heard it, you can tell from his reaction, but he didn't bother to calm the people down.

I really do not think you are in touch with what is happening over .
More to the point you do not realize what is happening to this Country .
I would rather have some wack job Libertarian has president then what we may end up with Obama.
Don't think its a done deal yet though , previous elections have shown otherwise.
While we are on the subject most American Libertarians are Conservatives at heart .
I actually believe this Country needs a Libertarian President but how he would lose the ground troop anarchist following to be taken serious is beyond me.

We have all been brainwashed into thinking there is only really left and right in politics, when logically and philosophically there are hundreds of different ways of organising society.
Those really in charge (not governments) want it that way because they have fingers in both pies and it gives the public the illusion of choice. In fact both left and right are means to the same end.
Until people break out of this left and right (and middle) bullshit and their flag waving for each, then we're truly fucked.
Bringing it back home, if you truly believe that Cameron will bring change then that says it all. You won't catch me voting for any of them because it is not voting that will bring about any change.

Well Did you hear the shit the Preacher at Obama's Church was coming out with ? . McCain can't really bring that up though can he ? after soliciting the endorsement of of John Hagee from the cornerstone church, a man who goes around saying that hitler was sent by god to "hunt jews" , and that Hurricane Katrina was punishment because they held a gay pride parade there it is probably why McCain isn't bringign Rev Wright up, who's comments by comparison are timid, and some of it true, 9/11 WAS "chickens coming home to roost", a textbook example of blowback, as described in CIA manuals.
