A continuation of the kind of form Simmo was in yesterday will be a test of TP's faith in Russel Hoult.
Admittedly, I've only seen Hoult in action once, at Rochdale, and I wasn't impressed to say the least.
Let's hope this is just a blip and Simmo returns to form asap.
PS: Did anyone see Hoult get drenched by that water sprinkler at half time? Pisser! The funniest thing at Oakwell since their mascot fell flat on his face walking down the steps in the tunnel in the 80s ;D

Must admit I'm getting really sick of seeing Simo gift the opposition goals this season. That was two yesterday, and one the match before against West Brom which thankfully didn't cost us. The reliable, dependable and sometimes spectacular goalkeeper seems to be surviving on the back of past merit at the moment and I'm not sure how much longer we can be expected to make excuses for his complete inadequacy to deal with crosses. He just does not command his area at all and is embarrassingly indecisive at times. We need a new 'keeper IMO in January, and surely now this is a matter of as much urgency as the midfield. Pulis has a good record of signing goalies, so time to pull another rabbit out of the hat! If we're serious about promotion there is no time for sentimentality regardless of how good Simo has been. Seems the Thought Police dictate I'm not allowed to post my own threads. Bring back the old Oatcake mb where threads get popularised on merit and not because administrators deem comments on them superior or inferior!

I got bored reading page one with its well considered 'he was wank' comments and felt like creating my own!
Not allowed apparently!

All keepers make mistakes. Cech and Reina both dropped clangers yesterday. Should they be dropped?

And you think no-one's going to appear on your thread with an "he's wank" comment mikeyb? It clearly says on the front page that repeat threads will be moved. I don't see what your problem is. There are some good points on the original thread and yours was a good post. There was no need to start a new one. Chill

Cech and Reina haven't made half as many mistakes as Simo has in the last couple of seasons. It's easy to forget his mistakes when you fall in to the midset of making excuses and believing it just to be an 'off day'. I was just the same until recently but getting sick of his cock-ups!
EDIT: The comparison of Cech and Reina was not mine.

Steve Simonsen will spend a nervous night wondering whether he has lost his place in Stoke's line-up after 108 successive league games between the sticks.
Simonsen appears to be in the firing line after being criticised in all but name by manager Tony Pulis for two of Barnsley's three goals in the 3-3 draw at Oakwell on Boxing Day.
Pulis is refusing to comment on his goalkeeping dilemma, but is understood to be seriously considering Russell Hoult for what would be his first league appearance since joining Stoke last January.
Hoult, who played for Pulis at Portsmouth before rejoining his former manager at Stoke, has thus far been restricted to just one League Cup appearance at Rochdale in August when Simonsen was rested.
Simonsen entered the current campaign - his fourth at the Britannia - on a massive high after signing a long-term extension to his present contract.
But Pulis has pointed an accusing finger in his direction for three of the four goals Stoke have conceded in their last two outings to leave Simonsen on tenterhooks ahead of tomorrow's clash at Plymouth.
The rest of Stoke's line-up picks itself assuming several players overcome minor knocks sustained at Barnsley three days ago.
The Stoke party set off for Devon yesterday afternoon to begin preparations for a match that could see them move into the top two of the Championship by close of play tomorrow.
