I can't speak for MarkW, but I think I will carry on trying to keep the board going. It is a thankless task and you wonder why you bother sometimes, but judging by the reaction today it means a lot to people. Smudge has got quite a bit going on away from this board just lately and I can understand why he's had enough of it. Anyway, Just a couple of things; we can't merge threads, unfortuately. I agree, I think the karma and smite probably needs to go. There's no way we can combine the main SCFC board and the General Discussion board. We can only fit 50 threads on each board and with the amount of traffic, it would just be the death of the board. If people would also stop posting threads that are clearly not football or Stoke related on the SCFC board that would be a big help. I think an idea would be for admin to create and pin a Matchday thread and a Post-match discussion thread on the day of games and for all people to use those threads, particularly the post-match one for a couple of day after games. I think Starkiller's original point about there being too many posts was borne out of the fact people were just creating new threads giving their opinion about the Bolton game instead of just replying to others' point of view. Anyway, let's see how it goes.

The board is run in a fair and appropriate manner.
I support the moderators with their decisions, some of my threads have been 'shit binned' or moved because the repeat other threads and to be honest, I have understood why. It actually coaches you to consider and think before you post.
Have a pint on me lads, and if people give you stick, ban them. No one needs to be called the various vile you have been subject to.

Signed. Keep up the good work, and let's hope we can keep this board going. Wouldn't mind if someone left.
Personally I would have hope the karma system was dropped, I think that is making this board worse, a lot of abuse comes from it.

If it meant we could get rid of the spam/abuse/trash/repetition on here then maybe it should be a subscription site? £5 for the season?
Would give the admin team some reward for their work and may discourage some of the idiots?

Signed. At times this board makes me laugh out loud and at other times the sheer arrogance, rudeness and just plain old stupidity makes me ashamed. Thanks to admin for doing the thankless task of sorting the wheat from the chaff and I would support a return to intelligent, humourous and positive posting.

Karma for you Trumpton for being the one to start this thread. As for anyone giving admin abuse, just ban them and let them go onto rivals. Cheers fella - right back at ya. Just didn't see another and yet was sure there would be hundreds like me who think they do a great job. Plus until this morning i didn't realise they did it for nothing either in which case i need to think of a better word then 'great' .... maybe "Unbelievable". You could compare it to a referee in many ways, you can't win no matter what you do. Can't see there being too many refs or linesman doing what they do for free. Obviously in the amateur leagues there are but those numbers are falling on there arse and there is only 2 reasons why: 1.) No Respect 2.) No Thanks If i did something for nothing i would want praise for when i get it right and "understandng" if you make the odd mistake. These poor fellas don't get either ... hopefully this thread will make them see that we do all appreciate it and embarass the tossers to sort their act out.

hopefully this thread will make them see that we do all appreciate it and embarass the tossers to sort their act out. I wouldn't put money on that TP. The person who started all this mither today thought it was hilarious to post the fact that several people had Bobby Robson in his Deal Pool on the tribute thread that was started not long ago, and then cried like a four year old kid when his posts were removed. What hope is there when you're up against that kind of mentality?

From the West Country this is a lifeline to what is (or probably isn't) going on at the Brittania. As a worked based surfer most of the time it can be extremely dodgy having to trawl through completely erroneous posts just to find something sensible to read, and find the odd nuget to have a laugh about. A current classic of the current excess posting problem is this post. oatcakefanzine.proboards27.com/index.cgi?board=Potters&action=display&thread=39380Poor bloke has obviously missed all the recent fun and games and knowing what it was like before the V festival his only hope was to post a seperate thread rather than waste half is life trying to catch up on 4 days of drivel, although currently has drifted off into a what should now be in the general discussion area. Anyway the current deletion strategy is great for what it's worth from a fan in Bristol today.

It is a thankless task and you wonder why you bother sometimes, but judging by the reaction today it means a lot to people. It means a hell of a lot to me. When I first left the UK the only access I had to Stoke information was phone-calls with my Dad, the (paper) Oatcake in the mail every other week and occasional envelopes full of Sentinel match reports. The Oatcake website - and particularly the message-board - transformed that and for over 10 years have kept me better informed than my dad, who still lives in Stoke - and for the most part pretty well entertained too! signed.

I too was one of the idiots that said something that pissed Smudge off this morning. I have since pm'd him and said sorry. It was not meant to be personal. The admin on here do a very good job in keeping the board running. Cheers.
On a side note could we please have a section for transport to games i.e. the 2 threads at the top of the board at the moment. Cheers.

I only got the internet in March, and through this site have made numerous friends already.
To be honest, I have no idea what sort of hours and hard work Admin have to put in to keep this going, but for one, I would be totally lost without it.
I like a laugh as does everyone else, but to be abusive to other posters (or Moderators) is totally out of order IMO, we are all on here with the same objective - SCFC
