They are a bunch of bastards and with this level of journalism and piss taking towards towards our club I will never knowingly give them a penny! "match report" - www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2008/08/17/pulis-fearing-worst-after-bolton-put-stoke-to-sword-115875-20701833/Now our players did not have a great game but did they REALLY deserve 3 out of 10? Player ratings STOKE Sorensen 4, Griffin 5, Cort 4, Shaw- cross 3, Wilkinson 4, Delap 5, Olifin- jana 4, Whelan 5 (Lawrence 5), Cresswell 3, Kitson 4, Sidibe 3 (Fuller 5). MANAGER Pulis 4

Ridiculous scoring there
Don't worry, it'll be even better when we shove it down there throats. He who laughs last......
I must say that I was dissapointed with Sorensen. The lad is an international and Premiership experienced keeper, and his command of the area was poor as was his kicking. He didnt look very comforable
I know it is only 1 game and I will support the lad 100% but I really did expect him to look more sure

To give those marks to Fuller and Lawrence is a joke and you can only wonder how a Manager is supposed to earn his marks.

I do my own ratings.
The Daily Sport 3/10 The Star 2/10 The Sun 1/10 The Mirror 0/10
This is all based on on a tits to quality of journalist cuntwit ratio

'Calm down dears, it's only a commercial' - why get upset over the opinion of one individual?
If you accept the ratings he gave to the members of the winning team, then the losing team's ratings are bound to be lower - why make song and dance about it?
What may be worrying is that opinions in all of the papers I've managed to read today were very much of a similar nature - are they all wrong or, in our disappointment, have we shown that we can give criticism but can't take it - even begrudgingly?

Perhaps they only watch the highlights on MOTD and don't attend the match?? Lets face it Hansen and co. don't sit through 8 full matches on a Saturday.
If they only watched the highlights, they will have seen generally poor play and wouldn't have had an overall view of the full 90 mins.
Do the Mirror, and all other papers, send a reporter to every game up and down the country on a Saturday, or do you reckon they employ a local hack that reports on behalf of half a dozen national rags? This could explain the generally negative view, or perhaps we really were shitter than we're prepared to accept?!?

I think a neutral would find that report is not unreasonable. Baystokie has it about right. It was men against boys on Saturday IMO. We have a lot to learn.

What Tuum said. That report is pretty much accurate. We have a lot to learn about this level of nogger and if we continue to collapse as easily and visibly as that we'll be in for lots of humiliation.

it is bloody stupid scoring really, Sorenson should have got a 5 or 6, Creswell wasn't great but a 3 suggests that he actually died on the pitch!!! I think 5 would've been more appropriate. Fuller did well and scored a good goal, so surely at least a 7. Sidibe was gash, but 4 or 5 would be a more realistic score. The whole thing is just plain vindictive and should be ignored for the shite it really is!

none of the papers did anything unexpected did they. i guarantee it won't be a lot better when we win, it will be more about how bad the opposition were, you just know it will. we are this years media whipping boys unfortunately.

Well it was hardly unpredictable was it!!....To be fair we were woeful at times and Bolton did take their foot off the gas or else it could have been worse.....I guess its better not to read the mirror reports......but sadly 1.5m people read it daily!.....Mind you over 3m read the sun!!!...What does that tell you about the state of taste in reading of the UK?

None of the players that started had a great game. I accept that. Fuller looked good and scored a GOOD goal. It was no fluke yet even he got a 5 for his troubles.
The point is, if Joey Barton had been on the ptch for 1 minute and then red carded - he would have got at least a 5! Three of our players got 3 out of 10!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

To be fair they hardly scored Bolton generously, it is just a poor paper :
BOLTON Jaaskelainen 5; Steinsson 6, Cahill 6, A O'Brien 6, Samuel 6, Davies 7, Muamba 6, Nolan 6, J O'Brien 7, Taylor 6, ELMANDER 8 (McCann 5).
MANAGER Megson 7

Was anybody else watching the Chelsea game and thinking, oh s**t!! They looked seriously good. Our season won't be decided on how we perform against Chelsea so no not really. Whether we stay up or go down will be decided on how many points we take from Hull, West Brom, Blackburn, Sunderland, Man City, West Ham, Wigan, Portsmouth and Newcastle (and probable a couple of teams I've missed out but you get the point). Although I do agree Chelsea look very good. On paper their midfield has almost a perfect balance to it. I think they'll win the league this season if they keep everyone fit.

This could explain the generally negative view, or perhaps we really were shitter than we're prepared to accept?!? Nationals generally send someone to cover all Premiership games but it will usually be a freelancer who covers a certain area for them. Other than that, it will be lifted from The Press Association copy that is produced for EVERY game.

3-1 told them all they needed to know in their eyes, fill in the gaps between the goal scorers and you've got a Premier League Jizz Fest

Really, I have got over the initial panic, and really we had a weak side without new boys and our best players, and we didn't play well at all, and we only lost 3-1. With a full strength side with even more additions, I can see a lot of wins and draws coming our way.

To be honest it's a massive step up from the CCC to the Prem and we're a team made up of mostly Champ' players at the moment. On the most part we were poor on saturday, but we were also missing our two best players for 45 minutes plus Ab' Faye (who is our best signing yet in my opinion). The marks in the Mirror don't make pretty reading, and I'm not really a big fan of the paper, but they're not far off
