I honestly love all this how everone is looking for possible ideas that it could still be on ! Maybe it wasn't Scholes and they got someone who sounds like him to say it tbh it doesnt really sound like scholsey does it Maybe im just an eternal optimist or just clutching at any straws i possibly can but theres just something that says this deal is not totally dead it may be right at this moment but with all the media being at the club today then you would of assumed they would of said something regarding it being off and not just it coming from the local radio station who as said before on another thread are not always right with there storys. I really expected SSN to have found out they always seem to find out about everything yet they seem to still think its on But scholes was actually on the radio and said the words himself, "this is not a signing we will be making" . You're in denial

I just find it strange that with all the media around today the only people who have currently got the deal as being off is radio stoke how come no other media source has found out? I suppsoe in the morning it will be all over the papers

To be fair, Radio Stoke is the only media organisation that particularly gives a toss about reporting the very latest Stoke City F.C news, isn't it?
They'll all catch up in their own time.

On the one hand, Radio Stoke came up with Olofinjana one morning out of nowhere.
On the other hand, they made up the Shefki Kuqi story.
Make your own mind up.

On the basis that Tony Scholes - Chief Exec of Stoke City - says that the deal is off on local Radio, i would say that we are not going to sign him. Or could beloved TS be in acting in a haze of sunstroke and Sangria, and not have a clue what is going on? He could wake up tomorrow with a terrible hangover and memory loss, read the papers - especilly the bit that says 'scholes says Zigic(!) deal off', and scream ' fuck! What have i done?'

I can believe that Scholes went to Zaragoza to try to scab some loans off them, I can believe he wanted Zigic on loan, what I do not believe is he had any intention at any stage of buying him. We like loans too much, we don't like spending money.

www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/aug/12/stokecity.premierleagueStoke miss out on transfer targets
* Stuart James * The Guardian, * Tuesday August 12 2008Tony Pulis has admitted he has found it "difficult" to attract new faces to the Britannia Stadium this summer, with the Stoke City manager claiming "there are lots of players with big egos and some of them might not want to put their neck on the line". Pulis, who has made three signings since winning promotion to the Premier League, believes there are too many squad players at other clubs who are "very comfortable" despite having little chance of featuring next season. The Stoke manager's comments came as the club confirmed that their attempts to sign the Serbian Nikola Zigic from Valencia had failed. While that comes as little surprise, Pulis has been disappointed he has not enjoyed more success with other transfer targets, with Dave Kitson, the £5.5m club-record signing, Thomas Sorensen and Seyi Olofinjana the sum total of his wheeling and dealing since the end of last season. "We're a little bit behind in bringing players in," said Pulis, who refused to comment on reports that Stoke are trying to take Chelsea's Peruvian striker Claudio Pizarro on a season-long loan. "We have found it a little bit difficult to bring in the quality that we want. It's highlighted one or two weaknesses we have as a football club, but we are growing. We are looking to push on and improve on what we've achieved. There is money [available] but it's finding the right ones."

"And finally how come radio stoke discovered the deal was off before pulis because he said "i don't know, i havn't spoken the tony (scholes) yet" on SSN"
Because Pulis is a sly cunt, he knew when that interview was recorded that the deal was off you could tell he was uncomfortable with the question and the fact he kept on stating that zidic was just one of several targets.

A bit harsh.

not really harsh, i prefer the manager of my club to be upfront and tell it like it is, all that bull about not speaking to scholes etc just makes me cringe

what makes me cringe, are attention seeking cunters who claim to have inside knowledge of potential signings when in fact they know three fifths of fuck all.
ring any bells ?
