My honest opinion is that you will not see Demar start a dozen competitive first team games for this football club. Depends on whether or not he outlasts Pulis - if he does then we may yet see him break through. If he doesn't (which looks more likely) then 12 games is over-optimistic. I don't think he'll start any competitive games for Stoke, we may as well forget about him I'm afraid.

Who actually signed Demar , was it Pulis or what ? It wasn't Pulis, he didn't sign de Laet or Phillips. Hence the reason (or part of it) that we won't be seeing either of them. Tell you what though, with all the "preparation" for our physical approach that WBA have been putting in (like trying hard to think of nice things and not cry even when your shoulder hurts), Demar would be a real shock to them...!

'My honest opinion is that you will not see Demar start a dozen competitive first team games for this football club. ' i think you are dead right, if he isn't ready at 23 he will never be ready. which begs the question, why the hell was he brought in for a 'substantial' fee. He is about as untypical a Pulis player as you can get. I can only think it was a panic buy, which seems a bit out of character for Coates. strange affair this one.

The Phillips and de Laet deals are both weird. They're both clearly not Pulis signings, yet Pulis is obviously under no pressure from anyone to play either of them. They could be called "ones for the future," ie thinking of beyond Pulis' time, but that's hardly Coates' style is it? Here's a thought for you - was Demar signed just as a sweetener for Fuller? Would Fuller have signed that new deal if they hadn't allowed him to bring his mate in? Over to you, Serpico.

I think there is a possibility that Pulis has learned his lesson, that he genuinely sees Phillips & De Laet as part of the team moving forward and that at the moment it's hard to change things because everything is working well.
I've not seen Phillips much, but Cressie is doing well and Pugh seems settled at LB. Perhaps for certain situations we could drop Sid & push Cressie up but we are going well, and bar the Central Midfield everyone deserves their place at present.

Not a chance Dixie, he's not interested in them, which is his call. I really want people to stop getting wound up about Demar and forget about him - he aint gonna be playing.

I think you're right Dix. I know its far from the same situation, but at their 70's - 80's peak, Liverpool never blooded new signings straight into the first team, even higher profile ones - Hansen and even Dalgleish had to wait. I remember that although Shankly was never one to explain himself, he did say that he regarded his first team with loyalty and faith and new additions had to earn their place and wait for their chance. I would like to think that some version of this operates - Pulis did keep trying Rooney (who to be fair wasn't really ready) when the crowd were shouting for him based on one game really - it was the idea of someone who could just bang in hat tricks at will. But I believe the approach to Rooney - to toughen him up a bit is a genuine attempt to get the best out of him for us later on and his chance will come just as Demar's will. From what I've seen of Phillips he is closer to a regular spot than Rooney and isn't too lightweight in his role - I just hope he proves to be what we all want him to be and that he doen't end up out on loan in Jan.

I'll be impressed if you're right Joey. Think there is more weight in the "Fullers Biatch" theory
