Hello Stokies ... That time of year is upon us once again - i.e. the start of the season - and this time me and the old man have given up on the South car park and are looking for somewhere new. Just wondering if anyone could throw some suggestions my way? FYI: We don't mind walking a bit, and will usually be arriving from Derby (A50) or Cheadle (to take advantage of the excellent oatcake shop there ;D) Cheers!

Longton Rugby Club advertising in Saturdays sentinel - guaranteed car parking @ £149 a season
How much is a south car park pass?

Less than £149 - about £80 I think I paid for the south carpark.

There would surely be more parking spaces if the car parks were given a tarmacing and spaces marked out, as I was told they would be, during the close season. There's still time to get it done, I suppose.

always said that surrey.proper markings would easily create more spaces and more money for the club or who-ever owns that land but do they listen do they balls.
Plus in the sentinel weeks ago the rough land up on the left of the footbridge was going to be levelled off for more parking, well yesterday it looked even worse with weeds etc sprucing up from the ground.
What is going on with that anyone know?

I think a lot of us will have to rethink our travel arrangements this year, as a minimum tweak them.

Heard off a mate who works for the Old Bill that they will be targetting anyone and everyone who parks on a grass verge, pavements etc... as they had loads of complaints from businesses on there.
Glad I've got my space ;D

South carpark is 100 quid!
And if you know where to park you can stay in the ground to the final whistle then run like hell to the car and you get off no probs!!

Either the bowling club at Heron Cross or school opposite would be ideal for you coming from Cheadle area, decent pint,10-15 minute walk top's £2 to park, well last season was, good exit for you back to A50.Would ensure you get there hour and half before ko time to get a space at either.

I take it that the pedestrian underpass plans have faded into a black hole then ?

Try Hem Heath Cricket Club - good beer, excellent Wright's pies and cheap. Trouble is, it has become a victim of its own success ie need to be there 2 hours before ko to get a seat. Last season's car parking was £50, including evening games, unlike PowerLeague.
BTW we tried to book Longton Rugby Club for our girls youth team as they have a 2/3 size floodlit footy pitch with "second generation" astroturf. Excellent facilities, but very expensive. Was told by the bookings manager that there wouldn't be much parking available on SCFC Saturday matchdays since priority would be given to visiting rugby teams. The £150 seems to bear this out.

not sure if there's any spaces left but I'm at the power league for the second year running. Only guarenteed for weekend games but only £56 the season. Did it last year and it's great.
