Just been offered a new job with the company that I work for with a 7 grand a year pay rise.
Problem is I will have to work Saturdays on a 1 on 1 off basis.
Guaranteed to miss loads of Stoke matches.
Turn this down and I will not get offered again but cant stomach missing Stoke matches and especially after waiting all these years for top flight action.
Dont know what to do?????

Accept the job. First thing you do in your new role, book all the Saturdays off when Stoke are playing at home.

Thats a tough one, but then there is the summer break when we wont be playing plus we dont play every week at the Brit? I reckon you should take the job and buy yourself a decent hi-fi and tune into Radio Stoke.
Or am I being stupid. This is indeed a toughie!

If its any help, last year I applied to do an MBA sponsored by my company (worth around £15K) - A couple of weeks ago, it came through as 'approved' however, it will include 7 weekends worth of university tutoring.
I decided last week to say 'no' as no way am I missing out on Stoke !!

Are you really such a sad, no-life nob to even consider what may, in effect, be blowing your future on a few games of fucking football! Christ, I've been a Stoke fan for over 40 years and even I can see that's monumentally stupid.
Nothing personal, like.

Of course, there's always the possibilty that Mr Watto thinks, 'Ooooh, I've been offered a 7k rise, lets go and get it spread all over the Oatcake that I might turn it down, so everybody thinks I'm such a top fan I can afford an extra 7k on top of my season ticket etc.'
Nob!!

Of course I'm fucking mental, have you never read any of my posts? I'm completely out of my fucking tree, but that doesn't stop you being a nob, for whatever reason I choose to think up. My voices tell me, 'Watto is a nob', and I have to listen, or the bad men will come and get me.
For fucks sake, yer a nob, get over it!!

Indeed a true Dilemma! I have just enjoyed the best 2 years of my working career with not having to work weekends, hence the last 2 seasons have seen me at +90% of Stoke matches home and away! This comes on the back of 15 years working one weekend on and weekend on! However had I not done the 15 years graft I probably would not of been able to acheive a relatively comfy position, from the aspect of both time and finance. ;D So there you have it NO HELP WHATSOEVER! ;D

Take the fucking job, you muppet.
I took a 50% pay cut to come home from Hong Kong to work in Stoke, realised the error of my ways and got a 50% pay rise to come to Jersey. Now I'm off at the end of August to BVI for an even better life for myself and my family.
You have to look after yourself and your future first and foremost. I love Stoke City, as I am sure you do, but you have to get your priorities in order.
With the amount of TV coverage (what about Football First on Sky on Saturday evening?) and games being moved about, you won't miss as many games as you think anyway.

WATTO
Imagine this..............
You don't take the job, you go to all the games and watch Fulop getting 3or 4 put past him every week and getting the 7 THOUSAND A WEEK are you hearing me A WEEK more he has stuck out for and your left where you were. Not moved on in life at all.
Take it it's a no brainer and I'm sure if you take it you will like someone said get lots of opportunity in the prem to see them other than on a Saturday.

Luke45 had a humour/irony bypass. Mildly amusing, telling a 57 year old man to grow up, on THIS board. Fuck me, I wish I could be arsed to point anything out to anybody, but I can't. Work it all out for yourselves.

say the worst happens and we get relegated and it takes 23 years to get promoted again that one season will have cost you over £200k+ in lost pay-rises I'd be taking the job myself besides what happens on the saturday off does someone else work is there no opportunity to swop shifts ?

Watto - if you can dictate at all what Saturdays you will work - take the job. When you're "off" is the other Saturday covered by someone else? See if they'd be flexible.
It's a tough one I know, but with the 7K you could afford Sky Sports and a DVD recorder for all those Match of The Days. ;D
Have to admit I'd find it a heart-rending decision - especially with the mrs' job on the block at the moment.

I decided last week to say 'no' as no way am I missing out on Stoke !! You should change your mind mate and get on the MBA course. Its one of the most respected qualifications worldwide and will see you to a comfortable life. As for the job, same applies. Everyone on this board loves their football but as most posts show, a good job and decent pay win out every time. More games than ever will be non-Saturday anyways and if you can do your days on when they are away you'll suffer Nige on the commentary far less ;D
