..at least for the first hour, until we nearly, fatally, seemed to take our foot off the gas? By accident or design? Or did Blackpool let us play a more expansive game? Smithy said a couple of times it was a most "un Stoke-like" performance. And, judging by this write-up, we were bloody impressive for the first hour. tinyurl.com/2pg9urIn the run-up to this game, Stoke have been described with words like 'big', 'tough' and at times, 'ugly'. But make no mistake, they are one hell of a good side and in the first half they made an absolute mockery of the 'winning ugly' tag. They passed the ball around beautifully and provided excellent service to the nippy strikers, Fuller and Sidibe. Rest assured, anyone who tells you that this team can't play good football doesn't know what they're talking about. So when Blackpool took the lead after quarter of an hour, everyone was pretty shocked. Flynn hit one from range and watched it roll in down to the keeper's right, a lesson to Blackpool's faltering strikers. It was against the run of play, despite Ben Burgess's shot in the first minute, and if anything the goal simply angered Stoke.

Pretty accurate account really, only thing he doesn't mention is that their goal shouldn't have stood due to a foul on Eustace. I did keep reminding the linesman about it for the whole game though. Tubby Jeff Winter wannabee

Rest assured, anyone who tells you that this team can't play good football doesn't know what they're talking about. Now how can they possibly vouch for the likes of Markwolstanton, Hudsongod etc etc?

To be honest I think anyone who describes Mamady Sidebe as a "nippy striker" doesn't know what they're talking about.

He's nippy but not a striker.

We were all a bit "nippy" on that fecking open end today, perhaps thats what he was referring to in Mama's case?

I wouldn't say Sidibe's slow.
In fact, he's positively Linford Christie-like, when compared with much of the squad.
There's only really Fuller who's got a real turn of pace though.
