As well as Salif and Fuller finding the back of the net and this team can definatley get a top 6 spot this season. GPG Gouranga.

The midfielder being... and the winger being... I'd go for Whelan and Routledge plse. (I can't spell Quashie.)

I think we'd all like Whelan and Routledge - although, as I said on another post, if we just got Routledge, I'd like to see Lawrence given a chance in centre mid alongside Diao.

Forny
fair do's but my point is, would we all like either or both over & above "Kwar-zzy"?
And for a further two bonus points:
would TP or is he still so in deeply love with NQ?

Routledge and Quashie would do for me. GPG Gouranga.

I rather hope we don't go for Quashie now that we have Diao. Quashie is more of a defensive midfielder than an attacking one and would not make a great pairing with Diao in my humble opinion. But then I doubt if TP sees it that way as he was targeting Quashie when he still had high hopes of signing Diao. Perhaps our squad will be sooooooo good that he plans to rotate Diao and Quashie!

I agree fornside. Id go for Whelan over quashie although both would be nice as our squad is paper thin at the moment. With another central midfielder, left winger and the signing of shawcross at least until the end of the season, we could push on big time this season. We have done brilliantly this season to get where we are. With increased strengthening, we can be a major force this year. If we could get Whelan and Routledge, our team could look like this
Simmo
Wright Cort Shawcross Pugh
Lawrence Diao Whelan Routledge
Fuller Cressy
Subs:
Hoult Mama Phillips Zakuani Parkin
SGS

I think Quashie (sp!?) and Diao would make a decent pairing at this level forny. The standard of the league is quite low, so two rock solid central midfielders such as these two would be far better than anything we've had so far this season. Just as important though is a pacy winger. If Demar isn't going to be that player then we need someone else.

I agree that at this level Quashie would probably improve the squad played alongside Diao - perhaps, subconsciously, I am looking ahead and thinking the pairing wouldn't work in the Prem! Agree about the need for a winger and I do like Routledge. Maybe my brain is going but I'm sure I have seen him play more on the right than the left? Anyone confirm this for me? Not that it matters because Lawrence can play either wing as well as centre midfield - not in the same game, obviously! ;D

Excuse my ignorance here but with all the talk of bringing in Routeledge (of which I would be greatly in favour), have we been seriously linked with him?
And yes forny, it may not work in the Prem, and Whelan might be a better option. While we're all excited let's have Quashie as a squad player instead of Ant Jnr!

Fornside, Routledge is right sided, most certainly right footed at least. I'm not sure if he makes a good square peg in a round hole though ;D Perhaps Lawrence would be better suited, as you say

Jimbo - we've been "linked" a short while back - but only really in the rumours / gossip columns i think - nothing confirmed by either side etc.
But, i for one, hope it would be a case of "no smoke without fire" with WR.

I just meant very right footed, playing on the left, rsb. Fornside was hinting we need a left sided player. I have no idea if he's comfortable on the left and fornside was querying his ability to play there. TBH it was a light hearted comment, hence the............ ;D &

I wasn't hinting we need a left sided player. I was responding to a post higher up the thread which had Routledge on the left wing. I'd put Routledge on the right and Lawrence on the left until/unless we had a left winger ready to do the business. I happen to think Lawrence and Diao would be a superb centre mid combination.
My ideal midfield would be - from the right -
Routledge, Lawrence, Diao, AN Other/Phillips (if he makes the grade)

For Liverpool in his first season there.
Diao is not a goal scorer though, he does a good enough job without the goals.
I've heard no mention of Whalley recentley.

i would like to salif alongside eustace for a few games, just to see if having a half decent player can help eustace recapture some of his form from a couple of years ago.

I was just thinking that SKI ...
SJE is getting better the more he plays, to leave him out altogether would be a difficult thing to do I would humbly suggest
