Just watched this guy “ Rick Granville “ saying on a documentary that they shouldn’t of lost to Stoke in 1972, as we were nothing special,”no great shakes” Just wondering if a Chelsea historian is a football historian. Are they that far up their own arses they can’t see below the top 6. Seriously I’m no expert but weren’t Chelsea constantly fighting off relegation in the early 70s. He complains because that Chelsea team fell apart after we beat them. He doesn’t mention we signed their best player. I hate supporters of the top six they are all privileged dicks. In 15 years time there will be Chelsea, lpool, ect supporters saying they shouldn’t of lost to Leicester and Brighton as they were nothing special . How the fuck do we break this monopoly???

They should all fuck off to their la la land euro league and leave the other 80 odd clubs to play the game we have loved since infancy. It will probably be more fun without them anyway.
Any league without the scum, dippers, manure, shiteh, spuds and chelski will be a far more competitive place.
And then maybe we can introduce some sanity for transfers and wages instead of the obscence monies we see now.
Lets face its 'the working mans game' moniker is finished until we get hold of our senses.

I wonder if Chelsea Historian was at The Victoria Ground for the 1975 League Cup game. They probably should have won that too, instead of getting stuffed by 5 goals to 2.

To be fair at that point we were not great shakes Team really blossomed from 1974 as March excellent thread demonstrates
However spin is for many years after Chelsea nearly bankrupted themselves building a new main stand (still the best part of their ground) and they were no great shakes either until Abromovic came along so they can fuck off

Hardly important 50 years later. They could have won it but didn't.
We could have won the pub quiz at The Brewhouse but won't hold grudges against bastard Kevin who wouldn't listen when I told him The Who had never had a No 1 single. Floppy haired Yorkshire Muppet.

More than fighting off relegation, they actually acheived it in the 74/75 season, Chelsea finished next to bottom, amusingly the 2 teams relegated with them that season were Luton Town and Carlisle United. That was the kind of company they kept back then!

We were 6-0 up at one point before we 'declared' and gifted them 2 consolation goals in the last 10 minutes.

And only 2 of those foreign types per team 😉

Too right , so why does that historian mention it , it must have fucking hurt him even after 50 years Yep but I guess all clubs have fans who do Were they hot faves on the day,? Chelsea were definitely favourites going in to the 1972 League Cup final. They were to finish 7th that season and we finished 17th. Also Chelsea had won the FA Cup in 1970. That season we had lost the home game against Chelsea 1-0 and after the League Cup Final we went on to lose the away game 2-0. But we won the one that mattered!

I’m still pissed off about the Sheffield Utd away match when we could have won the league, and I wasn’t even born for another 30 years.

Seemed like it was played in slow motion. Not too much exciting football (as was expected) Funny looping header from TC and a goal from George Eastham. We were right behind it. Eastham never seemed to score and we were in shock. Never seen such a frail looking footballer in my life... but what a player. World Cup winning squad member as well don't forget. The great Jimmy Greaves always regretted not playing in the same team as him. He said he was the master of the slide rule through ball. Mike Bernard nearly gave us all a heart attack in the last few minutes.

It matters because in one quick sentence he decimated probably our best years in the first division. If he called himself a Chelsea fan , well ok , but he’s there historian apparently

I was too young to know what the status quo was back then but that quo was a different quo than now, just cus of money in game now and the perception of what is quo, unfortunately the best I can suggest is to use some ai thing find where he lives and remove each of the letters C H E A L S from his keyboard, whilst at it any microphone as he might have some voice recognition thing, actuall go back instead of removing the keys put super glue on em so his (or hers) fingers stay there for a while to reflect what they might type next. Didn’t we beat Chelsea in the semi without var?

No different than us saying we could have beaten Arsenal in the cup semi which webhear often Exactly, does this historian realise we got to 2 semi finals when we were “no great shakes” I’m not bitter because he doesn’t know our history, it’s this arrogant attitude it was only Stoke so nothing special, just like Brighton or Leicester today. Why look at the facts

That s the thing with the tinternet , it’s written and it’s some how taken by some as truth, in fact in can be be it can also be codswalop, as much as an historian he claims right or wrong ng I could claim to be the best centre forward that stoke never had, even though my favoured position is midfield. Report him to the government for miss a nformation and right a nice reply to him how you see shit differently, democracy in football is long needed.
