How does it work?
Do Swansea always allocate 400 tickets for away fans or was it just a case of there being no uptake due to it being midweek and on TV?
4000 on Saturday seems a big jump, though I know the stadiums bigger.
With some huge games coming up can we issue next to no away tickets and make it a fortress. We need all the help we can get.

3 hr 30 trip, mid week when the match is shown on Sky. Killed the following.
The fact we took 500 is good in my opinion.

But we can't play in front of a crowd because they are too critical of the little cherubs and puts too much pressure on them. We can't play in front of a few hundred away fans because there isn't enough of them. I'm not sure what the answer is but whatever it is, it doesn't involve the fans, be they home or away ones.

Like many , Stoke have always had their favourite aways and others were our following fall off a cliff … Swansea is one we don’t travel to in great numbers and have seldom done so in my experience .Whether thats a poor reflection of our support or just the way it is , is open to how you view such things ..personally it doesn’t overly bother me ..
if anything low turnouts are often more enjoyable ( though in the past in days of FV undoubtedly riskier ) , with the atmosphere , even amongst our own , never mind the opposition less confrontational with a greater sense of togetherness about them ..I know which I prefer , when more people are perhaps there for the football and the club and any piss up second , rather than a piss up with their mates first and the football being secondary ..
Small ones are often more juicy ..though sadly not last night ..

Stoke have to allocate minimum amount of away tickets 10% of capacity if the away club wants them around 3000 in our case, think it's actually around 2800 with segregation.

The largest away following at Swansea was by far th3 last game of our Premiership season when we were both relegated. Some 3000 or so and it was momentous, albeit after both clubs had already been relegated. A game which we won after being a goal down and Shaq missed a penalty too.

We lost the game I think 2-1 or 2-0 and it kicked off big time after. Even women in houses were calling us English bastards through their windows after the game. The new ground has always been fine every time I've been but the Vetch was a rough one.

Was a midweek game at the Vetch where Andy Legg scored a fantastic volley for them Was a house near the ground having renovations done and was skip full of bricks and building materials. Was soon emptied and don't think by the kind folk from the skip company. Was half a house being chucked at the away coaches That and a game at Bradford the two that stood out that era . Midweek game there also and a gang of about 20/35 Asian youth stood outside the away end ......strangest thing happend. Another Asian gang appeared from down a side street and they both started going at it, fists and boots flying. We just walked by it, they weren't interested in the football fans

we always seem to get swansea away in the midweek, just one of those things i guess.... We also always play them at home midweek. It’s because even though it’s miles away we’re actually one of the easier journeys for their fans and most other clubs’s fans would have a harder journey to Swansea than ours. Even though it’s one of our longest away trips of the season it’s one of their shortest. Each team plays a minimum of four midweek home games, often more, and the police insist of early kick off for Swansea v Cardiff so that one’s off the table. Bristol City is the only one that’s vaguely convenient for them so three other spots have to be filled by someone, and at least we’re on the right side of the country. In terms of distance from Swansea in the league (based on Google Maps recommended route not as the crow flies) it goes: Cardiff - 43 miles Bristol City - 81 miles West Brom - 153 miles Birmingham - 154 miles QPR - 185 miles Plymouth - 190 miles Stoke - 192 miles So we can’t really have any complaints. We’re spoiled for away trips. It’s the flipside of the thread the other day about home support being affected by the number of other clubs reasonably close to Stoke. Imagine being a Swansea fan and having only two away games a year that are under a 300 mile round trip.

Don't blame many away fans not going to Swansea. Our away supporters this season have been brilliant and I doff my flat cap to them. Like the team, for many reasons already stated on here, they chose to have a rest day and it showed. Hopefully, 4000 at Wednesday will make up for it and we'll see a positive result for them.

At the the old place he’d have probably taken the opportunity to kick my head off 🙂 The area around Swansea is actually nice ..just the vetch was a rough as they come on a matchday , not helped by our small followings & sadly the new one is severely lacking in real ale pubs ..

That was the one mate and I do recall the searches aswell. It certainly was a rough hole mate and we had a reputation then which didn't help matters. As you say new one is much safer and better for it but you haven't the selection of pubs close by that you did with the old grounds across the country.
