So apparently in the Jan 23 tranfer window we had a £750,000 bid rejected from Coventry for Rose who was in the last 6 months of his contract. Ironically, McNally who was on loan to Cov at the time was the guy keeping him out the team! Coventry finished the season in the play offs, both players sign for us in the Summer an have both been nothing short of awful since. Is it us or them who are the probem? Is it another question of poor/lazy recruitment or the nature of what happens when you sign for Stoke like so many others?

Whether we stay up or go down, I don’t want to see either of them next season.

Both utter dogshite.
I dislike Rose but Jesus, McNally really does look like that bloke you've had to drag out of the pub an hour before the game to make up the numbers.
Wouldn't surprise me if they sign him up at the end of the season though... it's just what Stoke do

McNally has the look of someone who’s lights are on but no one’s home. Are McDonalds missing a cleaner ?

Rose as 3rd or 4th choice as a cheap backup? No brainer.
McNally based on this season, there is no justification for spending any cash on him.
We need a leader back there and, along with a proper striker, LB and permanent keeper, should be a priority

Last night really exposed how bad the pair of them actually are.
Going into the season with these two and the post-injury version of Wilmot as our centre-back pool (then not sorting it out in January) is a big reason why we're relegation strugglers.
Not scoring many ourselves is obviously a huge issue as well, but when our defence collapses like a house of cards at any sustained pressure, we've got ho hope. Every goal we score, we have to sweat blood and tears for. It takes us so much pressure and so many shots to get the ball in the net even once. At the other end though, we just gift wrap the sort of goals I'd be annoyed at seeing in under 8s football.
We deserve to go down for how this club's been managed this year (and the last few years too.)

They’re mediocre but unfortunately our strikers are worse, hence where we are now!

I am not a fan, but as long as they keep Wilmot out of the side I can't say anything tbh.

How division one and two players constantly find their haven at Stoke City should be a cause for a serious internal inquiry at the end of the season. Was it Bob Paisley who said, “It’s not about the players or manager. It’s all about the clubs ethos?” Never a truer word spoken.

Both of them had a warrior in the form of McFadzean alongside them at Coventry, which is a big help at this level for either young or shite defenders.
The pair of them are garbage. I said as much about McNally after 5 minutes of the 4 goal beating at their place last season. Campbell tore him a new one, and as we know when that happens you have serious problems.

Larus Sigurdsson years ago was the first one. Alongside Overson and Cranson he was solid as a rock. Alongside Tweed we got relegated and he looked a League One defender.

It was more McNally than Rose last night, but you can't ever bank on them both having solid games. Even when we do keep a clean sheet, there's usually some form of balls up between the two of them.

I'll be glad when McNally departs and we never have to watch him again, so casual in and out of possession it's unreal. He looks half soaked most of the time......

Not strong enough as a pair. They're just the latest in a long list of good players coming to Stoke and fade. I think there must be something in the water at CW.
But, they were far from our worst last night. Just saying...

Both are utterly awful. Any CB is going to have their good moments. But they are both calamitous and consistent in that regard. Personally, i think the keeper is poor too. We needed an experienced leader at CB and we've ended up with this pair. Rose is a Scottish championship player. McNally will gain experience and prob be ok at this level - but he needed a real leader alongside him. Fact is i cannot forgive SS for not addressing this issue in Jan.

Funny, contrary to my judgement people on here seemed to be saying that they were a good partnership before tonight. If I read them correctly the majority seemed to say that although neither were great individually they worked well together. But then I'd have Wilmot instead of Mcnally every day of the week. Every match it seems Mcnally is at least partially responsible for goals we concede. I don't think Wilmot is brilliant but I don't think he makes the mistakes Mcnally does, but then Mcnally is a great bloke who plays darts at a local pub.
