9.5
West Brom are decent and in good form.
We bossed the game and would have won it with a half decent finisher.

9 for me. Great comeback and he has got a good team spirit going as well. It will be interesting to see who he gets in next season so let’s judge him then but he’s doing fine atm.

I think as Ipswich have shown with Chaplain, you don't need a top drawer striker at this level. A player who has been around the houses at this level and will get you a dozen or so goals and take those chances we missed today If we'd have signed him in the summer I doubt many would have been popping open the Superdrug Lambrini, a bit like when we signed Cresswell. Is about now, you can sign Prem players when you get there. Baffles when some slate Bamford, a player who has constantly outscored anyone we have at this level. He misses chances but scores a hell of a lot more than anyone we've had in a long time. The kind of players who get you out of this horrible league Chaplin isn’t a striker really, he’s an attacking midfielder, and he’s quality. He’s crucial to how Ipswich play, so much flows through him. 51 goals/assists for them across two seasons. I take your point about a goalscorers in general but Chaplin is a poor example to pick on.

Wasn't picking on him, saying the kind of player that doesn't excite as a signing but you need at this level.

I would have been excited if we’d signed him in the summer, he was the best player in L1 last season and has been one of the best in the Championship this season. I think to liken him to a useful but bland signing like Cresswell does him disservice. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he’s playing in the Prem next season even if Ipswich don’t get up.

Don't think he was ever Prem quality. Cresswell scored goals for us and a vital part of our promotion season , same as he is for them. Doesn't mean Chaplain won't play in the Prem for Ipswich of course. Reminds me of Andy Lidell who was good at what Chaplain does but never at the highest level. Don

Overall, happy with a point. Disappointed we didn't take our early chances and the usual shocking defending for their goals. However, did get ourselves back in to it when in the past it could have been another drubbing. If we avoid relegation we'll definitely be better next season.

9 - got it right from start to finish, team set up well and up for it, tactics spot on and subs right and at the right time. Couldn’t do much about the missed chances. There’s no doubt the players are playing for him.
