Goran Popov all set to sign on loan then "apparently" work permit refused. Deadline day signs for WBA with a work permit. Allegedly TP saw him play and then changed his mind. Pennant put him on his arse 3 times in 10 minutes. *apparently*

I seem to remember loads of people talking about Sergi Roberto on loan- was there anything in that or was it just wishful thinking? Really can't recall how serious the discussion was.

An interesting read. Proof, if needed, that The Sentnull read The Oatcake to get their inspiration

When we signed Hoekstra we were trying to sign another Dutch player, name escapes me, a striker Was only when the player rejected us that his agent also had Hoekstra and recommended him as an alternative. Seems to remember a certain website saying we were signing Huistra the ex Rangers player when the story seemed to leek at the Newcastle Town friendly Not saying was this site of course The Dutch striker rings a bell, been trying to think since you posted it yesterday and the name's escaping me as well. I've got Van Hooijdonk in my head but I'm certain it wasn't him.

He was a white dude, about 6ft 2 Johnny Rep shirt outside the shorts look Reminded me a bit of Aloisi at the time Wasn't Witschge at Ajax but think another player we enquired about loaning . He went elsewhere on loan

Mo Salah was here on trial when he was in Dutch football.
Our coaching team deemed he wasn’t good enough.

I saw the title and thought it was a story that George Best had nearly signed a Chinese player.

50 years ago, the Sentinel and national press was reporting we are likely to get Franny Lee for a cut price £100,000.
We didn’t and he went on to score the goals that won Derby the title.
We drifted to 5th because we couldn’t score after Big John had his leg broken at Ipswich.
A sliding doors moment in our history.
