I think it’s true to say almost everyone has a second favourite team. No one would ever replace my team but since the 90’s Manchester City have been mine. Believe it or not, my team and Manchester City were in a parallel universe. Both struggling, playing the likes of Macclesfield and Port Vale. Since then at best we’ve stagnated while Arab investment coupled with brilliant management have taken Citeh into a different stratosphere. And to think the kickstart to their success was an offside goal by Yaya Toure against us at Wembley in 2011. Now they are the most watchable team in world football. Absolutely can't deny they're brilliant, regardless anyone's opinions on how Man City rose to power there's no doubt that they've spent the money well and got the right people in at the right times. One of the unintended side effects though is everybody trying to copy the Man City way of playing with a ball playing goalkeeper and playing it out from the back. Only a very small number of elite players can play this way truly effectively, and when it's done well as you see at Man City it can be brilliant. But for the vast majority of players, even within the Premier League, it just doesn't work that well. Yet you get teams in the Championship trying it all the time too. We've dabbled in it and got ourselves into a mess a number of times like against Leicester. Middlesbrough were trying themselves in knots with it at the weekend and getting into trouble. When done badly it's a very boring style of football and it's contributing to some of the crap football in our division. Managers need to get back to playing styles of football that suit the abilities of the players they have rather than trying to idealistically emulate the best.

Could we please move this thread to another part of the forums? This has nothing to do with Stoke, and I don't follow regime-critic-offcutted-head-ball

I genuinely can't be arsed with the premier league - the Manchester derby's probably one of the best games in a while and I fell asleep 5 minutes into the second half.
First time I've looked at the table in yonks was over the weekend and even then was just like 'meh' - not fussed who wins it but the bottom might get me interested but that's purely because of the points shitebaggery to Everton in the first place and the rest of the teams after appeal rather than the football.

Also Fodan reminds me of Cundle in the way he plays but not quite the finished article as Cundle yet. Time will tell if he reaches it though.

It's such a pity Foden hasn't been managed well by Guardiola. Just imagine how good he could have been by now.

I always liked the newsagents on Nantwich Rd that had every magazine you could think of..even Asian Babes with the free DVD but I couldn't reach it . I once saw a Crewe player in there one afternoon years ago looking at the grumble mags, forget his name, midfielder, he played for Wales. I went for a pint in Crewe at a place called Retro Bar a few weeks ago. Dublin lad with me cleaned up with some local chaps on the pool table, he's a bit good and a puppy shat everywhere. His first visit to Crewe was quite memorable. Edit...David Vaughan was the player perusing the adult art magazines

Dog shit aside

Having a soft spot for another team is acceptable, one of my lads is an Everton season ticket holder and I go occasionally and like to see them do well (but never at our expense)……
