The reason we're down there is due to our home form.
We need what? At least 4 wins and 2 draws from our remaining home games. I can see maybe 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats. So we'll have to win a couple away as well.
Home league games only - 2023 and 2024
2024 Home Form
X-X ? Bristol City X-X ? Plymouth X-X ? West Brom X-X ? Huddersfield X-X ? Norwich X-X ? Middlesbrough
0-1 L Coventry 1-0 W QPR 0-5 L Leicester 1-2 L Birmingham 0-0 D Ipswich
2023 Home Form
0-0 D Millwall 1-1 D Swansea 0-1 L Sheffield W 0-3 L Blackburn 0-0 D Cardiff 1-0 W Leeds 2-1 W Sunderland 0-1 L Southampton 1-3 L Hull 0-2 L Preston 1-0 W Watford 4-1 W Rotherham

I think it's gone mate, the only thing that will bring it back is winning matches consistently. Something which we don't look capable of currently. Well one things for certain we wont stay up without the fans support. So the choice is ours try and support or give up and go down. Or support and still go down which is also likely

I genuinely have a theory that our players are totally unable to cope with any kind of negativity or hostility, even if directed at opponents or officials.

Bear pit? It's more like a festering flea pit these days... I'd say that the stadium of a match day could still viably be described as the 'Bear Pit' in that it has all the edge of a branch of 'Build-a-Bear' located in a municipal shopping centre and populated exclusively by small children and their weary parents.

We had 25k there for the Birmingham game, unbelievably the interest is still there, but we’re woeful at home. Say what you want about the bad atmosphere, but there’s absolutely nothing to get excited about. I can’t even remember the last time we had a sustained spell of pressure at home. It’s like watching a car accident, horrible to watch but for some reason you can’t look away 🫣

Maybe if the players cared enough they would run through brick walls when the fans got behind them, but they don't give a Donkeys Donger for the fans of the club. Seriously I would happily close the stadium to fans until the end of the season. Part of the problem is the players are terrified of making mistakes given the situation we are in and ergo that becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. I genuinely believe that we would have a better chance of picking up more points at home if we put ourselves under a self-imposed home fan ban... Which one is it? Some think they don't care but players who didn't care wouldn't be afraid to make mistakes because they wouldn't give a fuck. Personally I just think they aren't good enough, this blaming the fans making the players scared is a load of bullshit. We've been shit for 7 years of which the fans have only really turned last season, so what do we blame the previous six years on? From the Sentinel website the Coventry manager said it was obvious we were lacking in confidence. He mentioned that we were far too negative in our play, passing the ball backwards far too much which he felt invited his team to put pressure on Stoke higher up the pitch. I think he has a very valid point. The centre halves are the biggest culprits but full backs and many midfielders are also at fault. Too slow in approach, both mentally and physically. Too much recycling of the ball backwards. I would make them play to Basketball rules..once the ball is played forward over the half way line it cannot be passed back into our own half. Adopt a Squid Games mentality and shoot the player who passes it back over the half way line. Drastic times call for drastic measures.

Might go because there’s a chance of seeing us score a goal via a pen , corner or free kick 🙄 . And I like watching our defenders pass it to each other really slowly while the opposition’s forwards pressure them into a mistake , edge of the seat stuff .

I don't think we'd get the crowd in even if we tried this. But even if we did get the numbers in I think it could be counter productive unless we took an early lead. This team don't seem to have any backbone and seem to wilt easily under pressure and under criticism. Schumacher alluded to it in his early days before the wheels had come off about how the players seem to struggle at home when something goes against them and the crowd start getting nervous and restless. I'm not sure it's entirely a coincidence that our only recent win against QPR was probably our worst crowd of the season.

We should maybe offer inmates from local prisons to have a day out at the 365, a sprinkling of monkey dust and hey ho, an intimidating atmosphere.

It wouldn't be a full house even with a ticket deal. Our home crowds have been terrible since relegation and the way things are now they are only going to get worse I think our attendances have been unbelievably good. The atmosphere is terrible without a doubt though. I'm always wary to believe what the official attendances are announced as, sometimes these don't equal up with the amount in the ground, anyone can see that by the amount of empty seats. It's been said before & generally always been the case that season ticket holders always get counted whether they're in attendance or not at a match. The white 'STOKE CITY' seating in the Boothen End has been legible majority of this season it's been that sparse with people. As others have eluded to, I think a full stadium would actually scare the living daylights out of majority of our current team. Those of us who have been going have been doing to our best to create some sort if atmosphere but it really doesn't seem to have made any difference. The next natural default position is to just turn up at a game, as you feel compelled to and just suck it up, expecting us have 95% possession (in our own half!) only to see the away team nick a goal or two on the break, on their first shots on goal and the away end erupting in to great delight at our expense.. again & again! Perhaps having no fans in the ground might just work, extreme measure granted, but with no pressure on the little cherubs they might be able to grind out enough points to survive. Everything else has failed, worth a go I'd say! Despite having shelled out on a Season Ticket, not going would actually save me money as the fuel costs alone of attending the last six home matches would be saved! On that note, wonder if you actually added up all the travelling costs and other matchday expenses during this season alone we'd have all spent watching the absolute dross we've been served up. Kind of puts the frozen priced season ticket prices into perspective a bit then, despite them staying the same price of sorts, all the other matchday costings have massively risen. Nevermind the costs incurred doing away matches as well, which despite free coach travel does involve fuel costs to get to the Bet365!
