Seemed quite lively. My husband's a Vale fan and said he was shocking for them so I wasn't expecting him to look that good. Well when you consider that a fair few of our players have been just as shocking under various managers, then all of a sudden it’s a new manager, different approach and game plan and hey presto, they don’t look quite so shocking, not world beaters but definitely performing better than they were. Maybe, just maybe the tactics and what he was been asked to do at the Fail were not suited to him. So to be fair to him, he came on, played ok so why not take another look at him since the only genuine player for that position is Stevens 😱 i would hazard a guess and say he couldn’t be any worse and is hopefully much better. I don't care how good a player I was, or what my potential, I don't think that I would be inspired in any way to perform well on a posting at the Vale!

I only watched them once this season and he definitely had Brown in front of him (oddly). Suppose they could have been playing some sort of 343.

He looked alright and quite comfortable with the ball but I don’t think it’s going to propel him into the squad moving forward. Probably was just Schumacher giving everyone a go. Bet he’s not even in the squad next week. Is he even in the list of 25 man squad? I know it's slightly different for FA cup games that entitles him to play.

From todays presser: www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-live-steven-schumacher-9028799Liam McCarron seemed to come in from nowhere to make his Stoke debut last weekend. What are your thoughts on his performance? Schumacher: He did well, he looked positive. When I spoke to Alex Morris last week about him, I’d recognised Liam's name because I was sure we prepared against him last season when he played for Vale against us. I recognised that, that he was involved on my squad list so said, ‘Where is he?’ and he was training with the under-21s still. He hadn’t been up at all with the first team. So I said, ‘Explain it to me Alex,’ and he said, ‘He's quick, he's got a lovely left foot, he can get up and down the pitch and he defends ok.’ I said we had better get him in the squad then because we need a left-back who can do all those four things. Obviously he hasn't had many opportunities here since he was signed so I spoke to the player and said, ‘Look it’s up to you, you can train, you can impress and you can try to take your opportunity. The door isn’t shut for anyone at this club.’ So he was in the squad because we needed him and I actually thought he did really well.”

You never know he was sent there quickly and may have suffered in confidence. Hopefully Schumacher seems the type that will get the best out of players.

Good point and not sure, is he still young enough to be exempt from having to be named? No he’s 22 so wouldn’t be eligible to play as he’s not named in the squad. Although I don’t know how it works during January because presumably you can change your named squad so is there an ‘amnesty’ throughout January when you can play any registered player before you have to name your new 25?🤷♂️

Man management, talking to players, witchcraft! 😁 I always had the feeling with Rowett, Jones and Neil, once appointed, it went straight to their head, thought they'd made it when in fact they were just at the start of potentially becoming a Premier League manager! 🙄 Luckily Stevie baby 😘 doesn't seem to have this attitude!

Just wondering if they were anywhere/why they didn’t get posted anymore.

Just think! New manager discovers a player with left foot & someone who can hopefully build with this new found confidence swirling around....yet doesn't cost us a thing to bring in as he was languishing as a forgotten man in the U23s
The more I read about The Schu & the more he says, the more I am impressed

When he first came here I thought he looked all over the place and really out of his depth, but I'm a big fan of not writing players off. Players can develop and change their game and this would be a great turnaround (i.e, from struggling to get into Vale's team) Best of luck to the lad. Glad to hear he's been given a chance. I like the positivity around this approach. I dont think we should be getting carried away though based on a 10 minute cameo.

As clarkeda mentioned above, could play out in a similar way to what Josh Tymon did which wouldn't be a bad thing! I still think we should look at bringing in Harrison Burrows though, he looks great.

No - but we should take note of the manager specifically asking for him when he took over. That means that whatever he's seen from McCarron when he watched PV, he's seen potential that he believes could be integrated into the team. Whether it works only time can tell.
