Looks good. Sorry to be stupid but to what does 'Lower Block' refer? I'm not sure, Godfrey. Someone sent it to me. It seems to be an online magazine and seller of photographic prints of footy

Thanks Malcolm, order placed. Fascinating photographic take on on Stoke football culture at that time. Happy New Year!

Been following Tony for a few years now on the socials. Brilliant football pictures, really brings back the memories and captures the true experience of what it was like in the 90s. Think I’ll grab myself a copy. Cheers Malcolm.

Bottom right is Andy Mitchell from Tean and the pony tail is Richie Ellis Blythe/Meir.. I must have been around them somewhere, I guess that was Notts Forest when we had a right go near the Vic??

I thought perhaps it was the name for some section of the old Victoria Ground but it relates to the publisher. From their website: Lower Block specialises in curating the best photographic content, celebrating football culture, lifestyle and community from around the world. The name, Lower Block, derives from where working class football supporters traditionally stood – in a block in the lower tier behind one of the goals.

Great memories. I love the photo of the scenes in the boothen after we scored. There are lads on there that I haven't seen in donkeys years. Not sure whose fans are being marched through stoke town centre. Order placed.

He’d travel all over picking and choosing various games each Saturday and he has produced a brilliant portfolio. He also photographed the rave/club scene of the 90s. He’s got pictures from the queues outside to the service station stop offs on the way home. Some pictures are very interesting to say the least. Tony Davis is his name. Really sound bloke! I’m glad that he’s done this venture and made his great work accessible for a fair price.

All photos look like the stoke vale derby to me As I said above, at home V Birmingham too. Forgive the mind, but the game against Brum I think I remember all sorts of post match commotion after. Brum popped up after a parallel walk back to Town Center towards the market, as Stoke were on corner of road by Police Station. Closest I have ever come to getting involved in something at home due to the close proximity of some angry Brummie charging towards us ...and in no way glorifying football violence in one bit. It was pretty much the norm to anyone who wasnt about the Stoke area pre/post match, with the maze of streets & alleyways a plenty to appear and disappear from, especially Boothen Rd/Lonsdale St

I remember when I was young walking passed the front of the police station towards the ground & seeing a load of lads come running passed us, easily about 40-50 non club coloured wearing! & they were followed by about 6 police horses slipping & sliding on the tarmac as they came cantering through a short distance behind them from the town direction!
Was a match against Portsmouth of all teams! Never realised then that they'd have had an element to cause much aggro but there was clearly something occuring!

Is that possibly Surrey Stokie - Monica in the photo just outside the main entrance? Dressed very similarly to how she does on a match day now..?!

Apparently Portsmouth had a fairly notorious "firm" back in the day. It was actually an away trip there where the "Naughty 40" was born, if I remember reading something in a book somewhere. Or maybe it was on here.

Surprised not to be on them. Always seemed to be hanging around on that corner by the Viccy pub for some reason.
