Good and very unexpected point though we rode our luck a little second half. + Gooch, Thompson, Bonham + a good point + subs were decent + stuck at it - created next to nothing - the front 3 were poor particularly Mae who is lazy - pressing was woeful - Laurent doesn’t do enough - Rose was dreadful first half. Second half big improvement - Hoever too many errors - corners were woeful Not sure saw too many Hoever errors today but his (& everyone else's) are woeful

Gooch’ freak goal and WBA’s lack of composure up front got us a point today. A more clinical team would have capitalised on Bonham’s flapping today. 2 marginally better performances under Gallagher overall. Big improvements still needed. Harsh on Bonham. He made three excellent saves. If we had a commanding defence, his biggest weakness wouldn’t be so exposed. It’s the issue with this Stoke team throughout. The all share similar weaknesses. One great save (one of the best I have seen this season) and 2 shots that went straight at him? A decent defence does not stop him flapping at crosses and not commanding his area, which will let us down (see Swansea game). I’m not just going on todays game, we need a new keeper end of, another decent defender is another issue which you are probably right about and do need more in that department.

That performance may have given some prospective manager candidates evidence that we’ve not as complete a basket case as they may have thought.

Worrying thing is we’re now 8 games without a win. We need a win next week. And bang. Back to the reality.

Didn't Bonham say the other week that his confidence anddevopment were put back years when he played for Watford as a teenager and conceded a couple of goals? Despite what he said about criticism not bothering him now because of that experience I'm not sure that's true. Behind our defence I wouldn't want to play Simkin. You need a strong, experienced defender to protect a young gk. Bonham is Bonham, Simkin is not Bonham. You can't say our defenders aren't experienced...if you want to question their quality that's a different matter. Mcnally and Hoever are young and relatively inexperienced. Rose just isn't strong or commanding. For evidence look at WBA goal today. Don't get out muscled and if in danger of losing the ball make sure you put it out.

I think recent performances have highlighted just how random and scattergun our recruitment was in the summer. Any new manager will do well to galvanise this bunch.

God we are so toothless up front,if it isn't addressed in the window,we will be looking over our shoulders at the teams below us,for the rest of the season. A few weeks ago people on here were saying that attackers were our best signings during the Summer and we would make a fortune in the future when we sold the players. Or was that just Vidigal7?

Didn’t think we were that bad? Dug in, some decent defending, albeit a couple of dodgy moments. I don’t think Baggies can feel hard done by with a point each. I hope Campbell is back for Millwall as we need some more shots going in on goal, we can’t rely on Goochaldinho every week!

Given the last set of results, I would take that result any day.
Well done lads and Gallagher. Onwards and upwards.

Not sure I'd agree with this assessment. I thought they were awful too?

Not sure I'd agree with this assessment. I thought they were awful too? They’re quite regarding the worst stoke side in years, we’d all agree with that but were they much better? They had the clearer chances but their overall play was as bad as ours I thought.

Not sure I'd agree with this assessment. I thought they were awful too? Yes but they had enough chances to win the game Stats are not correct, Laurent hit a technically very good volley on target in 2nd half which was deflected for a corner. He had a good game (again) after some abject games. Others did well too, Burger, Thomson, Bae and Bonham did well - though obviously stillflaps at corners. We did ok today. Some thought a 0-4 loss. It was a good hard earned point and we should bag it and move on. Being able to break down Millwall on Saturday is now the challenge.

Pearson has been playing further and further back with us playing out from the back, but today we did far less of that unfortunately we have a bit of a waster in Mmaee who is taking on the Powell “do as little as possible” mantra.
Our first two corners were woeful just reaching the front post - why is Hoever walking yards across the pitch to take a corner - when Gooch scored with a great cross albeit a little misdirected to our good fortune.
The team generally worked quite hard but we have to get rid of those not putting a shift in - Mmaee first of all

If we don't address the play in FRONT of the keeper, then we'll be sitting on here arguing about and blaming everything on Bonham the rest of the season without getting to the real root-cause. Fact is, if your overall defense is sound (And if our team pressures the opposition adequately on offense) then we don't have to rely on a keeper to save the game.
And if that WBA team is an example of top 6, then ffs it can't be impossible for Mystery Manager to come in and keep us out of the relegation zone.
Not seeing evidence of coaching fundamentals or emphasis on "What the feck to do with the ball in the final third, so we don't come off as fannies shooting straight at their keeper." Something's off/missing in our weekly match-preparation, not helped before by all the chopping/changing that Neil was trying to do.
Maybe it's just me, but I see a lack of fundamentals and at times confusion out there. In fact, those are the only 2 things that have been consistent since we came down imho.
EDIT: With seminars on "How NOT to miss a sitter" "Passing for Dummies" and "Sometimes, you just have to pay the Gypsy"

We could have easily been beaten. We were second best throughout, and yet we managed to fluke a draw. Reckon WBA will sorely rue their performance because, on reflection, they really should have won this match convincingly. We live to fight another day.
