Euro's should be 2 years after the world cup.
A normal year with no international breaks then a year with international breaks from january to the summer tournament ,
Euro's and world cup year should be structured along the lines of the FA cup ...minnows knocking each other out from August to January . Then from January to the summer ...the big teams join the minnows for say 3 knockout games , drawn out of a hat ( televised draw )
Summer tournament for the surviving big and smaller teams ( last 16)
Gauranteed to have one or two shocks in January ...Italy and Holland knocked out by Montenegro and Slovakia say ? France drawn away to Germany etc ,
More shocks , more drama , a lot less dull and much more meaningful games ( lose and you are out )

They should atleast consider merging WC and European qualifications. If you qualify for one you qualify for the other.

They should atleast consider merging WC and European qualifications. If you qualify for one you qualify for the other. It would mean one or other qualification was 3 years out of date. And effectively can half the international football program outside of Finals tournaments. I just don't think this would fly.

It is all about money. It would be great if there was simply less football, but from the soon-to-be-more-bloated-than-ever Champions League, through other UEFA and FIFA competitions, right down to a 46 game Championship (remember the Second Division used to have 42 games like the top flight did) there is an insatiable need to churn out more TV games and make more money for players and bureaucrats alike.
Being swamped with 'product' is a modern curse. What a treat it used to be watching the FA Cup final live on telly, now it's barely noticed.

Won the Euro's then didn't qualify for the World Cup.

Good idea Mr Stupp Let the bigger nations go through as what the punters want to see. Maybe 6 or 8 play off places Either that, or reduce the amount of easy qualifiers. So let the likes of San Marino, Gibraltar etc play off for the right to go into the main qualifying draw? The trouble is, they want the big nations to qualify as that's where the money is. If it was about the football we'd be back to the 8 team format which was absolutely brilliant - every game meant something.

I’m not sure I’d change a thing.
A tournament every other year is good. I’m not a fan of the odd numbered summers but it makes the even ones better.
Qualifiers mean we miss one weekend of club football at a time, and 4 of them in the season. There’s around 10-12 of them in a row in the summer. If you don’t like international football I’m sure you could find something else to do for those few hours.
The Nations League is brilliant. Not so much for the next one because we’ve been relegated but I’d much rather see us playing against France/Germany/Spain etc than having friendlies against Poland/USA/Australia. It also contributes to our seeding for qualifiers too which is why we’ve drawn Italy this time and because of the restructure for the next Euro qualifying we’ll probably draw another top side too (and only the group winners and some runners up will qualify, other runners up go into playoffs).
Automatically qualifying the likes of us to ditch international breaks means even less chance for the team to gel. Making the likes of San Marino go through a qualifying stage to earn the right to qualifying games against better sides is a bit harsh too, let them have their big day out.

Got be honest never really got what you boys were on about but for the first time probably in my lifetime I get it. With Scotland qualifying with two games to spare and having loads of injuries this week has been absolutely pointless - two glorified friendlies with barely any intensity to either.
In usual circumstances my arse would have been absolutely twitching but because there was nothing on the line basically it was just a shrug of the shoulders at the end of each game.

Obviously before we had less competitive countries and less countries to be fair . 16 for me , the likes of Albania wouldn't qyalify under a big team format whilst Germany would as it stands

To be honest, I don't have a problem per se with international football. It's just that there is now so much of it. Although it's great to have 24 teams at the Euros when it rolls around, the reality is that 16 teams was plenty enough and made the qualifying more competitive than it is. There's a lot of football played for little meaning, but that's a big nation problem. The smaller sides who qualify unexpectedly will obviously say differently.
No real issue with having to play the likes of Malta as why don't they deserve their chance to play the big sides, and it's not like it's a new thing to be playing the likes of them or San Marino.
The Nations League was a good idea which was a good competition the first time around. Now everyone has realised it doesn't really count for all that much, it's just another friendly basically. England got "relegated" yet we're still clearly probably in the top 5 teams in the world.

The qualifiers especially euros should all be midweek as its not far travel and the players play abroad in the CL etc anyway.

The qualification programme should be split as follows:
Year 1- The minnows play a pre-qualification tournament in what are now the Autumn international breaks. No one else has any games.
One international weekend/midweek in Spring for friendlies.
Year 2- Qualification groups of 4 play 6 games in the the Autumn international breaks. Top 1 or 2 qualify for Euros/World Cup. Bottom team goes into the minnows pool next time.
One international weekend/midweek for friendlies.
That would work a lot better than the bloated schedule we have now, and would eliminate these ridiculous France 14 Gibraltar 0 games that are utterly pointless.

To be fair Trousers, we rarely see a real hiding in international football these days. You used to see them at the WC finals even , you still do in the women's game but that was a bit of a one off v Gibraltar. Every team has the right to enter I agree but would be more competitive if was a preliminary qualifying stage for the lesser teams like San Marino, Gibraltar, Faroe Islands and Germany

For me, the only good positive is that these breaks provide an opportunity to go to see some non-league football.
The only problem being the one I wanted to go on Saturday was postponed due a waterlogged pitch!

So another SHIT SHIT SHIT international football break is nearly over - I've been looking at the fixtures and the Rotherham v Leeds on Friday has increasingly seemed like like the FA cup final to me over the last fortnight - seriously thinking of fucking Sky off as WSL just doesn't fill that gap - for me at any rate........ as others have said, non-league may be the answer - so Redgate Clayton, Newcastle Town or Stone Dominoes may dop the job......

The qualification process is fucking pointless really. There's 54 teams with 20 plus Germany qualifying from the process but with the playoffs from the Nations League 12 teams still have a shot at 3 places. With the minnows probably in double figures who've nae chance in the group stages the process barely knocks out anyone completely with the biggest surprise likely to be Norway.
In the Womens the euro draw is made via Nations League results and standing which makes much more sense.

Just rewatched the extra-time tackle on Mudryk, should have been a penalty. Very unlucky for Ukraine.

Let's not forget that the World Cup Finals and the European Championship Finals, are the er, Finals, not the whole competition.
And on that note, consider the matter closed.

Another going over the foot, anticipating the contact etc I thought it was a dive in real time and from some angles it does look like the fake leaving leg and then throwing it up thing, but 6:03 and just after here it's a clear foul IMO.
