I a hate it when parent clubs just recall keepers from clubs in a lower league using some questionable injury as the reason. As for this, it's perfectly reasonable as he's our player and we'd never stoop to such a dirty trick. We haven't done that though have we. Fielding has been on the bench for a couple of games and there is nothing to suggest we have made up his injury. Neil even said when Travers was recalled that he wanted to leave Simkin where he was getting invaluable experience rather than sitting him on the bench for Stoke.

Sorry I obviously quoted the wrong post. Should have been someone who said they'd rather have no gk on the bench than recall Simkin.

He was always likely to have come back in Jan anyway and loaned out to a higher level. But if he has to play for some reason that would stop that from happening? It’s no GK on the bench for me and leave him there. This one

Solihull moors live on BT shortly, looks like they've got a young primary school kid in goal 😁

Obviously this is just a rumour but taking it on face value re Simkin, confident in him Overall if we have players out and others playing but under the weather although I want the manager gone have got to have sympathy in this circumstance.

Reminiscent of Bursik being chucked in against Huddersfield, if true.
That was certainly an interesting afternoon. Might be similar weather later today too

Surely we can get an "emergency loan" then, no?

I’m getting fed up of AN but if this is true I do feel for him.
Not really if his own making (bar not signing a perm, but if it was Sarkic on a perm we could be in the same situ anyway).
I think the footballing gods have cursed us after we broke the status quo with Stokealona.

Surely we can get an "emergency loan" then, no? Not sure Pl rules and EFL rules differ

Got a good kick on him hasn't he?
Hardly had anything to do for the rest of the game- I think I could have played in goal and we'd have still only conceded 1.
Had no chance with their winner.

Thought he did well with what he had to deal with and couldn't do anything about the goal. I felt sorry for the lad with that shambles of a defence infront of him.

Is he injured at Forest Green? Only played once and didn’t make the bench yesterday

Tommy Simkin sounds like a Vaudeville Comedian The air hostess asked a Jewish man 0n the plane -are you comfortable? I make a good living , he replied Frank Fielding sounds like one of my dad’s mates from the 1970s.

Is he injured at Forest Green? Only played once and didn’t make the bench yesterday He's back at Stoke I believe. Something about Cotterill coming in after Troy had signed Simkin and it was decided he wasn't required there. Sure I've heard that he's back with Stoke & will be on the Fringes training with the keepers. FGR already had Luke Daniels & Jamie Searle vying for the No.1 jersey & a young promising 19yr old Irish keeper called Fiachra Pagel waiting in the wings. Cotterill was probably told to loosen the wage bill & felt Simkin wouldn't feature in his plans. Interesting that Troy Deeney had Simkin in his sights though & seemed keen to utilise him.
