I think the point has been missed somewhat though. Whether he's spot on or not I'm not interested in. It's the speed at which he's come racing out with his smart arsed comments at a time when the fans are really starting to engage with the team, off the back of a really good week and there is a feel good factor starting to grow. Do I understand how he's feeling? Yes I do. It's just plain daft though and he'll be the first to moan if the fans turn on him when the next bad run of results come. I don’t see them as smart arsed comments at all mate,I consider it well within his rights to say how he feels after 3 straight wins considering the abuse he’s had in recent weeks I wish him well with it if that's the road he wants to go down.

Just reading the BBC match report and stumbled on this: "I understand that when I make changes and it doesn't work, that I will get slaughtered, and I'm sure there have been a lot of people slaughtering me before the game, and are maybe eating a wee bit of humble pie tonight." I get it's a high pressure job but managers are well paid and it's all part of the remit, however unfair it may be. I think that's a very, very poor comment and goes a long way to proving why this man will never be liked here. It's an uncalled for comment after three very good wins this week. It could quite easily derail the clear uplift in atmosphere after the missed penalty against Leeds. We all know how important that atmosphere is at this club and we all know the importance of harnessing that atmosphere and growing it. Foolish, foolish man. Three good results and he’s gone on the offensive. He’d have been better off keeping quiet and letting the results continue doing the talking. He’s had three good results in a year largely filled with complete shit, like you say it’s why a decent proportion of our fanbase will never warm to the bloke. The criticism has been more than justified.

Why people can't just enjoy this week
We have a feisty manager which isn't a bad thing
The commentator asked him a direct question about making so many changes after 2 wins and risking upsetting supporters
He gave a straight answer nothing wrong with that
Some of the comments pre match were Kindergarten stuff
A lot of fans on this message board want AN.out so he's entitled to have a dig

Logged on here before the game and logged straight off. It was pathetic on this thread.
The amount of posts in this thread bemoaning the amount of changes. Lets break them down:
Bonham for Travers. Obvious.
Stevens for Thompson. The best left back at the club coming back into the team. Obvious.
Laurent for Burger. The captain coming back in to replace a player that ran himself into the ground in the previous two games. Obvious. Did Burger play immensely in those two games? Yes. Was he blowing out of his arse by the time his race was up? Yes.
Haksabanovic for Vidigal. The most exciting player at the football club currently (and the one with the biggest pedigree) coming in to replace a player just returning from injury and played 2 games in the space of less than a week. Obvious.
Gayle for Mmaee. Yes, it's surprising. But if you're going to rest Mmaee, he's currently got 3 options. Wes, Lowe or Gayle. Clearly the press was a big part of our success today, so Gayle made the most sense.
I just don't understand the criticism for rotating players? You need to use your squad, especially when the calendar is like this. And do people actually realise how much of a positive it is that 'mass rotation' includes bringing in one of the most exciting wingers in the league, the clubs captain, the clubs best left back and an experienced player like Gayle. The reason last season went the way it did, after the good run, was because Neil had the same 11 players to use. And they were all blowing out of their arses by game week 30.
I don't usually criticise the team news thread because it will (every week) show at least one person to be a numpty. And fair play for giving your opinion. But I genuinely couldn't believe the amount of vitriol (essentially giving up) before the game because of the changes. It was pathetic and a huge overreaction.
Final remarks: Dwight Gayle had a fantastic game, Haksabanovic is genuinely one of the best wingers in the league and Josh Laurent was arguably MOTM. Well played sirs!

Enda Stevens isn't the best left back at the club, he was average at best today and both Hoever and Junior have/could do a better job there. Laurent might be the captain, but he has been awful all season, today he was slightly better but Burger is comfortably the better player. A starting line up with Gayle up front never makes sense, the bloke is shot to shit. We won, amd it was a great performance all round, but let's not have a pop at people who thought we had better options in the positions you've mentioned.

I absolutely agree the players going out of the team are the better players. Obviously they are. Vidigal and Burger especially were immense vs Sunderland and Leeds. But they physically couldn't play another 90 minutes could they? Hence why Pearson was brought off at 35 mins. Blowing out of his arse and I assume nursing an injury. You've got to use your squad. And the players coming into the team today are more than good enough. Moaning at the team selection because Vidigal is better than Haksabanovic or because Burger is better than Laurent is, well, stupid. Vidigal and Burger were rested because they'd probably both manage 35 mins just like Pearson did. I'd start them both vs Cardiff next Saturday if they're fit and ready. And it's not even viewing it in retrospect. It was obvious why Gayle started today. Because we were out to press. And it's all well and good saying it never makes sense but according to who? We've just won 2-0 away from home vs a team that has won 8 (I think) on the trot and Gayle's quality as an option as an out ball - his first touches are fantastic - alongside his pressing were big contributing reasons why the first half went as well as it did. He didn't score but I'd say that's the best strikers performance of the season from him in the first half today. Like I said, I wouldn't usually have a pop. But today it seemed utterly pathetic.

And minor one mate.
Enda Stevens, rightly or wrongly, is currently the best left back at the club.
Are Hoever and Junior good options at left back? Yes. But they are right backs.
And the more I think about it I'm not sure I'd wish upon anyone the displeasure of watching Hoever attempting to defend down the left side. He's bad enough getting caught in knots down the right.

Fair enough mate and to be fair, we won, so all of Alex Neil's decisions were vindicated. My issue is with all the people who have come on here after the game to batter folk who, when seeing the line up, had reservations considering a lot of our better performers had been left out of the side. At the end of the day, we are all bog standard football fans who don't really know what it takes to win football matches at any level never mind the 2nd tier of English football but we all believe we know better than the manager. To me, it's just football fans doing what football fans do and i think people on here take it far too serious when someone moans about a certain player bot being in the team.

Taken from a Boro fan on Twitter; Don’t worry, boro are decimated my injuries, missing our best CB lenihan, starting RB smith, 2 best centre mids hackney and o’brien and possibly our best player this season mcgree. Not to mention playing a kid upfront So we start with this shower, pathetic AN 😂

I can’t stand you and some other arses who just spam loads of emojis instead of having the bollocks to formulate your own opinions. To be fair mate although you make some quite humerus comments what you actually know about football you could write on a postage stamp. Maybe keep quiet until after the game next time ay?

Sure there are players I think should have played more and ones who should have played less but it’s showing we have a better depth in the squad than we have previously. I’m happy the players I think should have played more have time on their side.
