I didn't see the game so I'm waiting for the scfc video clips summary. Going by the graphs, the green box and the arrows at the bet365 website in real time online, I must say Hoever, Johnson, Wilmott and Laurent were influential in this game. ⚽🤠👍 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Wilmott had a big impact for us today, twice using his height and strength, to win the ball for us in a crowded penalty box and using his head to set up a goal.
It's the sort of contribution I would have expected from Harry souttar , looking at the size of him, when he walked onto the pitch .Only for some reason, it never seemed to happen.
9 for Wilmott from me
At least an 8 I would have thought, from most people, in the circumstances.

Travers 6 - nothing to do Hoever 7 - brilliant goal but thought he was delivery was poor Wilmot 8 - some lovely passes and good in the air Rose 7 - solid Stevens 7 - solid Pearson 8 - MOM for me, he was everywhere Laurent 8 - really really good, tackled well and got forward well Johnson 6.5 - busy and always wanted the ball, let himself down with his final ball Brown 6 - thought he was poor and the goal brings him up a mark. Good finish though but he didn’t have to think about it. Mmaee 5.5 - looked off the pace but showed some good moments ie the chance that led to the third and the sending off Vidigal 8 - really liked that he took some hits but got up and got on with it. Two very well taken goals. Hoever did the cross of the game and Vidigal's crossing was poor. Not arguing with the overall comments though. We've really struggled with good final balls or crossing for ages. Probably since Tymon and Smith were on a roll a couple of seasons back? The one I disagree with is Johnson, I think his constant effors to go forwards were key in the times we did unlock Rotherham. You can have a better than 6.5 performance and still have a bunch of failed final balls - it happened with Powell all the time because you have to take risks to be creative.

Hoever’s crossing though generally didn’t beat the first man. Agree re Vidigal. Johnson was very positive but I don’t think anything he did came off and I liked that despite that he didn’t hide and kept wanting it. I don’t think we attacked that well though despite scoring 4 and we should have had a few more. But I think that’s terribly exciting.

I'd like to watch the whole first half again, I'm sure I remember Johnson doing tidy, slotted passes that opened up space or got people into the channels. I'm sure he did a sweet through ball for Brown at one point too. Also think I remember him struggling to make that final ball sometimes like you said. I was left buzzing by his first half performance today but I often mix up details and miss stuff because I'm watching players off the ball. The final ball thing can be a matter of getting on the same wavelength, I reckon there's a good chance we'll see some very exciting matches if the front 3 mesh with Johnson.

The occasional misplaced passes from Johnson were to Mmaee who was on his heels a lot today and not with the pace of the game. Johnson was MOM for me, I knew he was a decent footballer but he is far better than I thought he was on today's showing.

I happen to agree with Bayerns comments re Johnson. I don’t agree with his score though.
He did fluff a couple of through balls, but he was fantastic otherwise. Him, Wilmot, Pearson and Vidigal were up there Today

It can and like I’ve said I liked his performance in spite of imo him screwing most things he did up. He never hid and wanted the ball continuously. I really liked that and is the total opposite of Smallbone. Who was imo a shirker.

Travers 7 Liked his distribution, calmness and absence of pointless punching. Hoever 8 Terrific in the first half, not so much in the 2nd Wilmot 7 Rose 7 Stevens 7 Pearson 8 Probably our most important signing. All the misfielders played well Laurent 8 Johnson 8.5 Brown 7.5 He'd run through a brick wall for you if he could. Not his fault that he can only manage drywall! Hope he's around for a while. Mmaee 5 Invisible in the first half Vidigal 7 Started slowly, improved steadily amnd took his goals well.

4 goals in an opening day win when most players were rated 6 and 7? We’ll all take that.

Travers 7 Not a lot to do but couple of saves and quick off his line to sweep things up.
Hoever 8 He's going to cause havoc with those runs from deep. Brilliant finish as well. Wilmot 8 Had a hand in two goals and defended well. Rose 7 Couple of shaky moments but looks like he can really ping a pass Stevens 7 A good, solid game. Looked better than I thought he would.
Laurent 7 Wasn't as eye-catching as some others, but thought he was good throughout. Pearson 8 Looks fitter than last year. Buzzed about all afternoon.
Brown 8 He isn't as silky as the others, but fucking hell, what an engine. Johnson 9 Final ball let him down a couple of times, but he was absolutely everywhere. Vidigal 9 Decision making questionable at times, but great technique and willing to take his man on.
Mmaee 6 Some promising moments, but looked like he may need time to acclimatise to the speed and physicality of this league.
subs: Thompson 6 Came on and was steady enough. Chiquinho 6 Couple of runs, but didn't really have time to get going Wesley N/A Only on for a few minutes but looked a right handful Sidibe N/A plenty of energy and enthusiasm when he came on near the end

Two very well taken goals. Pretty much how I saw it except Johnson was my man of the match. Some of his driving runs were super and his reading of the game excellent - he won the ball back so many times round their box. Not the sort of player I was expecting to see at all.

And he screwed lots more up that he should make and even that one was a simple ball really and Hoever had to do a lot of the work with his step inside thing which was out of this world. Like I’ve said I thought he was fine but his final ball overall was really disappointing. Seriously, seek help. I genuinely don't get the need for the always contrary opinion. Because he’s racking the number of posts in recognition from the Guinness Book of Records

Agree about Wilmot and his “lovely passing” and I honestly overlooked his hand in two goals. But your score for Johnson is quite frankly bizarre. I know what you mean about a couple of his final balls but his set pieces were good and ball carrying superb. He carried it well yeah and then screwed the pass up. I enjoyed his performance but his final ball just wasn’t there. On a couple of occasions Vidigal and Mmaee made completely the wrong runs to be fair. They both went for the same space and then stopped running. That will come with better communication.

I thought Wilmott was excellent, good defensively, won some key headers and played some great targeted long balls out instead of just lumping it. I thought he looked more assured than last season, and took on the role of senior partner. Wonder if he was hiding a bit before as he’s always had somebody much more experienced alongside him, as always amazed to remember how young he is himself.

They did and that’s why really I don’t think anyone in the attacking unit actually played well. But yet they were still effective and passed it around sharper than we’ve seen for a while. It was a very encouraging performance. And as I keep reiterating from Johnson too. I don’t think he played well for the reasons stated but I liked what I saw and think he will get better.

They looked like a bunch of players that hadn’t played together for 95% of the game but still produced some really great football. It was such an encouraging performance but miles off what they can actually do in time imo.

Rose made 3 pretty glaring errors under little pressure in the first half which could easily have been punished against a better side.
