Not a player but...... Hughes, I'm convinced he'd have had just enough in the tank to scrape the points we needed to avoid relegation, then we could have got shot of him in the summer..... Hindsight is a wonderful thing as they say!!! I agree he'd have kept us up. BUT, and this is strange, I still think it was right to sack him. Makes no sense I know.

It was the Coventry game in the cup that sealed it in the end for Hughes!!! Away from the troubles we'd been having in the Prem (that like I say, he could have just got us the points we needed to stay up), the Coventry game came at a bad time for him...... That said, you still shouldn't be Prem team losing to a league two team!!!

Alan Hudson without a doubt. Under Waddo he was given free reign as a box to box midfielder. When he went to the arseholes under neil he lost that autonomy on the field and quickly fell out with him. His record at the arseholes compared to us speaks for itself.

Garth Crooks. Whatever happened to him? Garth went on to have a successful career at Spurs winning 2 FA and a EUFA Cup medals. He was consistently a 1 in 3 goal scorer throughout his career which included spells at Baggies and Man Utd. That is until a knee injury curtailed his game time at Charlton where he finally retired from the game. He went on to become the first black chairman of the PFA.

Kav and Thorne Having said that the Icelanders extracted top dollar (turned down several bids before selling) and we signed half a team with the money Kav wanted to stay it was the Icelanders that wanted him gone,I think Thorne wanted to go though. Sheron wanted to stay but moxey wanted the money for the stadium

He went on to win another Premier League medal with Leicester. He wouldn't swap that.

Sheron wanted to stay but moxey wanted the money for the stadium yes to all that Point is Icelanders didn't sell at the first bid (as the previous Coates regime used to do) they got Cardiff to pay (relatively) top dollar which we actually spent really well on about 6 players (bigger signing on fees for Hoekstra, Schtaniuk). After being lucky to keep his job after collapse in play offs at Walsall GT got it right the next season, We would have won the division that season (top & looking really good at New Year) but had ad injury crsis like none before or since & ended up in the play offs again Had that crisis not occurred & we won automatic promotion just wonder if the board might not have sacked him? The Icelanders we're constantly falling out with each other so maybe they would regardless?

I was of course joking and just feel we might have done well to keep him! Indeed. Always thought Garth got and still gets unwarranted criticism on the board mostly centred around his punditry where apparently "he rarely refers to his Stoke roots and never speaks with a stoke accent". In my opinion he brings a bit of comedy, probably unintentionally, to punditry amongst the misery of lineker, shearer and other regular motd "state the bleeding' obvious" borefests.

Sheron wanted to stay but moxey wanted the money for the stadium Peter Thorne didn’t want to move and actually came out and said it. Kav said he was moving to a “bigger club”. Thorne scored a hat trick against us on his return. Horrible times, hate Kav.

Thorne wanted to leave however Thorne is a hero and Kav is the villain

In his autobiography Lee Chapman said he left Stoke because the club lacked ambition, but he admits it was a mistake to join Arsenal and wished he had stayed.

Lee Hendrie, and he admits it. Bryan Robson became manager at Sheff Utd and they offered Hendrie a load of money, but it all went pear shaped very quickly.
