Went on that decent run and we’re back in our old habits. Obviously the refs display didn’t help at all today but we’re back to being average at the basics and only being able to play one half of football out of 2.

Playing out from the back with Fox and Jag is fucking suicide too, resulted trying punt up but nothing was there at all. It was dreadful. Neil needs a big summer, striker is much needed, 2 decent centre backs, we need at least 2 wingers. MON and recruitment truly terrible, it’s a miracle we have not been relegated, we will come back strong next season. West Brom won’t make playoffs as they are shit. Next season when Neil has had a full pre season and transfer window we’ll smash it I’m sure. 10/10 for positivity, really hope you're right but years of supporting Stoke have left me deeply suspicious that next season will bring more of the same depressing inconsistency. The last 2 home games have been a total second half shambles, after such a promising March. I still hope you're right though, that's for sure.

Their number 2 was a legend of the timewasting genre. It was unbelievable.

I feel like the club have learnt lessons, hence appointment of a football director if you like. What’s important is we finish this season on a high, important for season cards 100%. The club the last 5 years have really sucked a lot of soul out of the support. For me, Neil had the pedigree, we know what he can do we have seen glimpses of it. I don’t believe they were flukes, I think if it clicks we can beat anybody. The only worrying thing for me is just how big the summer needs to be, it’s got to be spot on, it may take him another couple of season to shift the shit if you will.

Why should it, most of the squad are out of contract in June. And of the ones who aren't, almost all only have another year left and are on Championship wages so they should be easy to shift if AN wishes.

That twat Corberan was moaning and gesticulating all game at the officials. Absolute cunt. I wouldn’t have shook hands with him after that disgraceful showing. There was a point early in the second half when it was 1-0 and he was hurrying the ball boy along. The lad should have dropped the ball and let that fucking boner get it, but he didn’t. Just little bits like that wind me up. The ball boys are ours.

We have reverted back to that terrible form from a few months ago. The wheels have fallen off performance wise. Where has that form from a few games ago gone? That high energy, high pressing, quick counter attacking football. It’s a real shame we couldn’t continue that form and way of playing right through until the end of the season.
Let’s hope for a decent clear out this summer with some good signings coming in and we can see the kind of performance we had against Coventry, Sunderland, Blackburn, Middlesbrough and Norwich on a more regular basis next season.

The brief period Tuanzabe was playing made such a difference. He mopped up everything similar to everything that Jags and Wilmot have struggled with. He also retrieved the ball and released it quicker which helped with our tempo. Everyone is clamouring for Pearson to stay which I agree with but I think two high quality CBs are the most important thing we need.

Of course! We all know what we need. Stating the obvious doesn’t necessarily help at this juncture.

Jags still has some good attributes but his lack of pace is a serious liability and one opponents increasingly target.

We really have gone off the boil again. The players know there is nothing to play for so could not care less. Time to sort out the dross again! Not such a big job this time but we need to get some really good players in the window including a top striker and a really good partner for Tuanzabe if we can keep him.

A good first half again destroyed by a flat second half! Why can't we play two good halves at home!?

While the ref was appalling ,new are diabolical with a good ref a. Bad ref or a mediocre ref . The Simone issue is we don’t hsvd enough physicality al through the team as soon as the game is disrupted or becomes a battle we collapse , if we try to just h it we are just pathetic see pearsons attempt at a crushing tackle on 21 who just laughed at him and tapped him on the head .
The manager was awful today too the control of the game was being lost well before the first goal and he waited until after the second to make ineffective changes for the second home game in a row .
it’s clesrbyodsy how much axel was missed and also a big commanding keeper .
AN for me remains miles off but the decision is made and he faces a massive summer rebuild as he said to nigel the message is he knows what’s needed we can only he hope he does and where to find it for me we need a massive injection of physicality and meanness not the snidey moaning weakness we get with Pearson who achieved the accolade of being the butt of wba players and supporters mockery today .

Fuck West Brom.
A few of their fans were getting cocky walking down Stanley Matthews Way after the game, I told them I’d meet them in the same place after next seasons game when their owners have milked them dry and they’re in administration……

Whilst Pearson is our playmaker, he’s great in creative positions going forward, but when he plays from the back he is actually a liability. Yes the ref was awful and in a game where both sides played the game to their own abilities, his poor decision making caused friction between the two teams, which is the absolute opposite of what a ref should do. Yes we have the worse of the decisions, but Pearson made a mistake for the first and Jagielka was left at right back against a younger quicker player who made the cross for the second goal.
Not a lot in it really and quite frankly it was entertaining as the pantomime season due to the inept referee and his linesmen. The latter let a ball at least a foot out for a West Brom corner go into play and a couple of offsides that did not lead to goals missed. The whole team needs demoting to division 2 or the national league.
AN will sort us out in the summer and hold tight for a powerful challenge next year.

Bad day at the office again but feel awful saying this but I thought our midfield was dire today?
Smallbone ran around with no effect. Laurent looked a shadow of the player he was a few weeks ago when imposing himself on play and I don’t think Pearson looks fit and gives the ball away in bad positions.
Just my ho

The big wins were a fluke. It's been mainly dross on his watch A fluke? This this place is gas, total polarisation Reading, Swansea, Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Blackburn where we played some fantastic football and that was a fluke?!? I agree with a lot of your posts but completely disagree with this. We are inconsistent and blow hot and cold. When we are hot (and we’ve been a lot hotter since Jan) we look excellent Neil deserves a chance to build his own team given what I’ve seen since Jan Fair enough, fluke was probably the wrong word. Maybe 'flash in the pan' instead

I’m not for one second suggesting the ref to blame for yesterday but the whole refereeing situation needs an overhaul to rid out the so called game management for want of a better description, players taking the piss at free kicks, throw ins etc, taking from the wrong place or passing the ball on to another player to take etc, I believe the six second rule for keepers is still in place unless the ref feels the keeper not taking the piss which they obviously are and I’m including stoke players in this too, refs ought to have more clout in giving red cards or at least a sin bin for 10 minutes to help stamp out the piss takers who deny us the paying public a full 90 minutes footie, difficult for refs to referee games I appreciate as much as anyone with all the shenanigans going on by 22 grown men and their coaches.

I read in the paper some weeks ago that goalkeepers are taking too long to move the ball on. So, on a FIFA directive, there's to be a return of the 6 seconds rule for goalkeepers next season. Plus, referees must include the time that goalkeepers spend when they just drop to the ground.
