Some of our fans criticise our stadium for some reason I can only think of the getting away from our ground that bothers me but going to hillsbrough yesterday really highlighted that there’s nothing wrong with our ground. Was in the lower tier yesterday and it was the pits. A small kiosk selling only carlsberg and a pie The cue for that was a mile long. There’s nothing wrong with our ground Next season there will be a fan zone (hopefully in the Championship) to add to the other improvements that have been made (Ricardo’s has been a welcome addition), it will always be an out of town stadium which means you automatically lose so much of the original feel but I agree it’s actually pretty tidy these days…… The ground is fine, for me it feels like home. I like it and I won’t lose any sleep over a few away supporters who visit once every 2/3 years getting their knickers in a twist because there aren’t a selection of 57 different type of pubs/bars within 100 yards of each other. As for it being cold, it’s really not! They need to “man up”

Went into the Leeds fanzone last month near the away end what a joke that was.

Fulham (A) is the best away day going. Possibly, but it can be F*CKING COLD on a winter match when the wind whips in off the river!

Will the fanzone be like a beer festival every home match?

I mean, it’s absolute fucking shit right? It’s a cheap Meccano stadium built on an out of town slag heap turned industrial park. If the family announced tomorrow that they were drawing up plans for a new ground in a more central location I could die happy. Slightly less unrealistically, rebuild it stand by stand. The north stand especially could be redeveloped into something beautiful with amazing facilities for the supporters. I never get these comments. Yeh things could be improved, as 90% of grounds in this country could if you listen to home fans, and by the sounds of it they are in the process of. Why would the club, police etc want to build a ground for over 30 thousand people in the middle of Hanley or somewhere? Can you imagine everyone tearing though the streets, putting house and shop windows through, standing on cars in side streets, like the video I watched again of stoke fans coming out of vale's ground the other season. Our ground on the Tele always looks good for me. Nice tidy ground. Shame about the other corners but hopefully one day we grow enough to increase it again. I can understand the more pubs etc, but if they improve the experience at the ground in the coming season then all good for me. I remember the days at the old ground, marching thousands of away fans from stoke station to the Vic, shopping trolleys and all sorts landing on cars and probably a nightmare for those houses in the surrounding area. I can't think of a ground outside London (and not sure if there is a ground inside the actual City of London, guess Fulham and Chelsea are closest) which is in a city centre, certainly not with a capacity of 30000. Apparently Huddersfield is less than a mile but all the ones I can think of are a good walk away. Traffic links would be extremely difficult to a stadium in Hanley. At least once you get off Trentham Lakes you are con the major routes out of the city, A50, A500 and M6 within minutes.

Wonder what the away day guide would have made of The Vic

Anyone know which pubs are away fan friendly in Stoke/towards west end? Got a mate who supports Plymouth asking for Saturday. Think there'll be four of them including his teenage son so assume they'll be OK somewhere like the Glebe if they keep their heads down?

The surprise is more fans aren't happy coming to our place, playing us off the park and walking away with 3 points. They're more annoyed we're not singing, idiots.

First, relocate them to the corner so their view is no where near as good and remove their audible noise from the tunnel area. Second, price matches on a reciprocal basis for ALL clubs eg, Cov charged us £36 and we gave ours away for £20.

Fulham (A) is the best away day going. Possibly, but it can be F*CKING COLD on a winter match when the wind whips in off the river! …….plus, have we ever got anything at that ground…??? Just a little anecdote about The Cottage. It was my two daughters first away day,we live in Herts, and I thought it’d be a good introduction to an away game..old school ground,”neutral end” etc etc.Anyway, they can’t have been much older that 13/15 respectively and I told them they may hear a few choice words and stuff, not that they were naive in that department due to my potty mouth. After the match we stopped in a local pub with my Fulham supporting mate, and I asked the eldest what she’d got from game and she said,”well dad, I loved it that we were in the middle of all the Stoke fans who’d come all that way down,I loved listening to the accents and when it was going well they were really getting behind the team….. but the best bit was one when they sang “Danny Murphy, you’re a wanker you’re a wanker” and every single person seemed to join in.

I heard the Millwall fans enjoyed a few hours in the Trentham Monkey Park before the match. Don’t know why they were attracted to it but each to there own . 🤔 They went for a bit of a 'ruck'.... But the monkeys won!!!

And if it was in the middle of the load of terraced houses and not in the middle of nowhere it would still take ages get away like every ground does. Stop bloody moaning.
Christ, it’s the typical modern day fan for me. Want everything on a plate served to them, don’t want to walk far, want shuttle services to pull up right by their seat if they could, warm air blowers built into their seats…….

I love the big old grounds, the ones where there is history and atmospheres of old that seemed to have soaked into the very fabric of the stadiums. I loved seeing Hillsborough on Saturday,it’ll be a very sad day for football when the likes of that and the City ground,Villa Park etc are bulldozed…..beautiful relics of the past, when watching football seemed more real, more attainable, and more fun.Or am I just a sad introspective old fart?

I'm the same, give me Upton Park over the London Stadium or Maine Road over the Etihad any day. I still prefer the evocative feeling of Goodison Park over any one of the new McStadiums. I know I am in a minority but for me 'a good view' comes quite low down my list of match day priorities. An 'authentic' experience comes right at the top. It's like the old bull ring in Ronda in Spain, built in 1785, close your eyes and you are an extra in Ernest Hemingway's 'Death in the afternoon'. No one has thought it would be a good idea to raize it to the ground and replace it with some horrible kit built stadium with 20,000 nasty plastic seats! In the words of Joni Mitchell 'They paved paradise and put up a parking lot'!

I’m sorry but anything lower than a 5 star review and I would say it was bollocks, for the last two seasons at least from where I sit in the ground it looks like the greatest place on Earth for the away fans.
