As great a player as I’m led to believe he was, his views are massively outdated. He shouldn’t be listened to when it comes to the modern game he’s clueless What a sad person you are ,Denis us a football man who has been there and done it .I can only imagine you post such rubbish for attention I’m so sorry you feel that way I really really am. Seems an opinion is not allowed in your world. You have a lovely weekend

I'm not sure what he's basing it on either as we'll only have a handful of first team players contracted to the club in 2 months time.

Pure fantasy. Unless we get rid of 2/3 of this team we will keep being midtable at best. Our home form is absolutely diabolical. How can a team fairly much in control in the first half collapse into a shambles in the second, so many times.

The home form has been nothing short of a joke if we’re being honest, only QPR and Wigan picking up less points than us and if we’re really talking about pushing top 6 next year it’s got to be turned around vastly!

You can't see it at the minute. We don't know what the squads going to look like for next year, to begin with.
We need to overcome our home hoodoo, that's a fact. It's embarrassing. Hopefully the players feel the same.

The home form is staggering.
It was the same last season too after that amazing home start of 5 wins and a draw in the first 6 including the West Brom win when everything looked so good.
In between that WBA game on October 1st, 2021 and this one, we've won 11 of 38.
No other team has won fewer games or lost more games in that period.

The last few games have again highlighted just what a job we have to do in the summer. Really do need quite a rebuild.

The blokes got a huge job on. I do actually think for along time we've got a plan of what we want too do in the summer. AN is no fool, he's knows where we struggle. Its no secret we struggle against the big physical sides. Its a huge job

After a brief purple patch, two home defeats in the space of eight days after leading in both at half time. Two powder puff second half performances, no forward players able to impose themselves on the games. Easy for opposition GK’s. I can hardly remember any Stoke goals at the Boothen End this season, and not many in recent years for that matter! I reckon we will still be in deficit on this record too… Seven years, across eight seasons, of being consistently rubbish at home.

It's amazing we haven't got relegated again.

You'd have to think we need as many as a dozen signings within the matchday 18 to compete for the top 6 (taking into account loan players going back). It's pretty unusual for a team to have that turnover of players in one hit and be successful immediately.
We still look a long, long way off being ready to mount to serious challenge for promotion.

I will be astonished if we get anywhere near the top six next season.
Our current squad is bang average and we are about to lose a big chunk of players in the summer (contracts expiring and loanees returning).
It will be a massive ask to pull together a team that can challenge for the play-offs. We will basically need to do it from scratch and in one summer window.

Top half would be an achievement.
Only ever finished in the bottom half since we've been relegated?
Embarrassing really.

I’m excited for the rebuild. A rebuild this major is an absolute tightrope but it’s also an opportunity for fresh start and, given how worn down the last 6/7 years has left me, I welcome the uncertainty.

All the same problems keep persisting other than that little purple patch we're still nowhere near moving forward. Big Big job this summer.

People are going to have to be patient, give the team time to gel. Good luck with that!
AN may be under massive pressure come October, I hope not!

Impossible to say right now how we will do. We’ll have pretty much a blank sheet of paper and one of the biggest budgets outside of the relegated Prem teams with a manager who knows how to win promotion. Yeah it could all go wrong but I’m looking forward to the fresh start.

We could be anything next season, and it all comes down to recruitment.
The only players we've got on our books who I think should even be considered as starters next year are Campbell and Laurent, and those two are both arguable. We need at least 9 new players, and that's before we even consider back-ups for each position.
What we've got on contracts at the moment are a bunch of League One players who would see us relegated by Christmas. However, if Neil spends the 'competitive budget' wisely we could easily challenge for the play-offs in what will no doubt be another mediocre Championship.

We have a lot of recruitment to do and that can go either way. We could hit the ground running and go from there or it could be really up and down as things take time to gel.
I really wouldn't have any expectations just yet.

All depends who we sign in the summer.
I actually don’t mind that we haven’t been able to maintain that high standard we set because hopefully it means some more of these average players are moved on.

The summer signings are going to be crucial but a step too far, I think, to get us into the top 6. More realistic will be a top half finish.
We have a moribund team that can sometimes play in spasms and a manager who seems to follow the same pattern. Neil knows what’s wrong, it seems but I’m not fully sure he’s the one who can fix it. The last few games since our short upsurge have seen a return to safety first football and baffling substations when behind. He hasn’t had many options but he’s stubbornly gone back into his shell of negativity.
Hopefully our structural changes will bear fruit in the market but it’s going to be a tightrope between relative success and failure with little room for missteps.
To say that it will be a defining summer is an understatement of the highest order and may defines us for a long time to come.
