That's what our Nige called him PMSL Gouranga. Im going to miss Nige sooo much. What an absolute legend. What are we going to do for him when he goes. It’s a crazy thought, but maybe, just maybe we will listen to a game that is somewhat representative of the game that is actually happening. I don’t know what Pejic will do without his weekly serenading though.

There's always been a player in there I remember one of his first games think it was Blackpool at home he ran the show. Glad AN has been able get a tune out the lad. We might be lucky as Southampton best player jwp is playing in his position but if they come down i can see them selling jwp and keeping smallpiece.

Whatever the outcome of Soton’s season (which is most likely relegation) I can’t see them wanting to let the lad go. It will have have been an excellent loan for them - they will have a player ready made for the Championship dog fight or one who is a lot the wiser and ready for a roll in a low end Premiership squad.

A bit like my thoughts on Jordan Thompson, I never got the hate for Smallbone. Good footballer, hard worker etc. It was always about how he and others were being used in the new managers system, and their natural fit for it rather than them as individuals.
Really pleased he's starting to get some recognition. Seems a real nice lad too.

Didn't AN he's done really well for someone on his first season of men's football?

I thought he was well respected there. Didn't they get a decent offer for him before he joined us on loan ? He was playing regular first team football, then did his Acl away to Leicester.Think he was given a 12 month extension before going out on loan.Obviously they will have a decision to make in the summer. He’s never had a regular run of first team football at Southampton. Mostly a mix of sub appearances and cup games.

I think AN has given the lad massive confidence boost in recent weeks. The talking him up vs our loss against Luton especially. He looks like he's got a slightly more free role.
He will go through spells of playing how he is playing now to dropping off.
The midfield 3 of Laurent, Pearson and Smallbone look the most suited for a long time.

Noticed laurent and some of the other lads pushing smallbone out in front of the fans to congratulate him and picking him up too. It was his Birthday.

I said before Christmas that he was unfairly judged by fans and I liked him and his effort and thought 'weak' was a misnomer. I felt that had he been a 22 year old from our academy people would have been far more patient.

Any chance of us sensibly signing him rests on Southampton performing miracles and staying up in the Premier League.

He started their first game of the 20-21 season, came on as a sub in the second, then a mixture of a hamstring injury and being benched meant he didn't figure again until January, when he started against Leicester and then got the ACL injury.

Under Hassenhutl, Will played on the right or left of a midfield four with JWP in the middle. Even in that CAM position, should JWP leave they might put Aribo there instead. Smallbone will be off Southampton's radar at the moment, as the current caretaker only joined them around the time Will came to us. Every reason to think we're in with a chance of signing Will in the summer.

Even if the caretaker isn't aware of will there will be people behind the scenes in charge of players out on loan who will be aware.

If he continues in good form with us I’d say the chances of us signing him are slim even if they stay up. Practically zilch if they go down.

Two managers and sets of coaching staff gone this season OK their academy set up will be pushing for him but whoever new manager is will be fighting fires

I’m not a fan yet but in addition to your “he’s a young lad” comment it’s probably worth adding that he’s also a young lad who was at a new club following a cruciate knee ligament injury.

He'll be building for the season to come, whichever division they're in, and wanting to properly evaluate and maximise all the options at his disposal, shurely

Good news the transition of Smallbone into Smallpiece is progressing and he's turning into a nice player. Appreciate Nige's efforts here. Sometimes a rebranding is just what's needed.
Could you do the same with Leroy Brown, Nellie Fox and Glen Campbell? Percent Celica might benefit from it as well.

He only rebrands one player at a time, so now that he has rebranded Jason Brown he has started on Smallpiece.

He’s gradually winning me over. Can’t fault the lads workrate at all. Needs to add goals Now I’m not suggesting he’s an Alan Hudson (who didn’t score goals by the way) but as a youngster with very limited 1st team experience he has all the attributes to become an AH. He’s mobile, He links up play, He creates space for himself and He makes himself available to receive a pass. Id certainly try to extend his stay with us come end of season
