We didn’t learn a bloody thing from the previous “passed it” bunch we seem so intent on signing. This bloke is finished. I’m not sure what the details of the deal were, but any money being paid to him amounts to a fraud. Why do we keep on and on and on doing this with finished players?

Some sort of vanity signing by the club in the mould of Owen and Eiður Guðjohnsen. Sadly unlike them he has been played on a regular basis. Completely unsuited to our style of play. No one who really knows football would have wanted him anywhere near a serious Championship club. It's baffling who thought this was a good idea. MON. Some other fuckwit also signed the contract on behalf of the club.

Just embarrassing watching him flounder around. Summed it up in the first half when he came out to touchline to take a throw into the box. - no point of him being on the other end. Should be put out of his (and our) misery.

Has to be dropped from the match day squad permanently.
How many points as he cost us this season?
Scary
What damage is he ultimately going to do , to player morale and crowd morale at Stoke city, if he carries on leading our attack ?
If he carries on leading our attack, home crowds will go 19,000 18,000 ,17,000 etc
We literally cannot afford to play him

If Dwight Gayle leads our attack for the next 4 games , we will have one foot in league one, in a months time

He's beyond bad. He actually could have had a hat trick first half. He made a complete balls up of every chance

We always get players at the end of their careers. It sums up the whole malaise and complacency of the club. They can’t be arsed to put the work in to unearth talent through competent scouts so go for the lazy option. Ooh, they were once a good player five years ago, let’s give them shit loads of money despite them being passed it. There is no imagination or drive to succeed at this club.

If you can’t see what he brought to that promotion winning side I feel for you, if you watched some highlights back from that period you will see just how much of an impact he had leading up to goals scored. I watched the real thing not selected highlights it was mostly fucking painful though I was as buzzing as anyone else with his brace against Bristol City. As did I.

I was really excited when we signed Gayle in the Summer and he looked really bright in his first few games.
However, he really does look like he has completely gone. There are games or moments when there are flashes of his old self, but these are too few and far between.
He had three opportunities in the first half. One where it was blocked inside the six yard box. One was a header from the penalty spot that went tamely into the goalkeepers hands. One where he swung wildly at a volley and failed to connect.
You would expect a striker of his repute to take at least one of those chances. If he does, it changes the dynamic of the game completely.
Does anyone know how long he is here for? Because he is just not going to cut it for us (barring some miraculous turn of fortune). I think everyone is desperate for him to succeed, but it is not happening.
The problem is that our failure to get a striker in January effectively means that Gayle has to keep playing. The only other options are Lowe or Tezgel, and I cannot see AN throwing them into the team for significant amounts of game time anytime soon.

OR you can bring youth through your Academy system sit them on the bench and NEVER play them

He signed a two year deal so has another season after this one has concluded unless we loan him elsewhere?

This isn’t a classic Stoke curse where a player goes shit over night.
He was shot 2-3 years ago like many of us pointed out when we signed him. Genuinely woeful signing, has gotten a pass all season till late as he runs around a lot. That is the bare minimum for a Stoke player. If Tyrese Campbell played like that today you can only imagine the jeers and boos he’d receive
I almost feel sorry for him but he should be nowhere near the team

At the start of the season nearly every club in this division would have taken Gayle, if he would have done it elsewhere folk would have been why didn’t we go in for Gayle the clubs got no ambition. He’s clearly not doing it,but the balls coming into the box today were not playing to Gayles strengths. He needs the ball on the shoulder of the defender. When I saw the team sheet today I didn’t think we would score. The bench was unbalanced, so nothing could be changed. Jacob Brown works his socks off but is no better than league 1 standard. Let’s get to the summer and take stock.

Scored 1 goal off his arse.
If he'd just even managed 7-8 goals we would probably be about 7-8 points better off

I summed up Gayles misses & lack of goals today to a lad sat In front of me. I described it as one of them dreams/nightmares you have where you're trying to run but the grounds like quick sand & you can't move despite trying your hardest to move, you just keep getting bogged down. Same applies to his shots and headers towards goal, everything just appears to bounce off him, no matter where the chance drops he just can't get a true hit or any power on anything he puts goalwards. As frustrating as it for us fans to witness week in week out, I sure know it'll be doing his head in aswell. Confidence must be proper shot, strikers thrive off goals & putting the ball in the net in training sessions means nothing if not scoring on a match day.

I've said it before and will say it again. Stoke City is a club where players (careers) come to die. It is obvious that we accept any level of incompetence, apathy, unprofessionalism or under-achievement. It is a toxic, rat hole perfect for breeding nuclear levels of waste product. We don't need new staff, we need Rentokil. And upon leaving quite a few rise from the dead.

Big problem for next season on his wages 😒

It's a good job the Coates can afford it.

No chance going down this season. A couple of injuries and poor results and we will be right in the thick of it again. Sunderland looked really lively today. Massive test away from home. Can't see us getting anything. Blackburn. They win or lose. Will have too much up front for us I think. Boro. Played us off the park here. Much better under Carrick. Norwich. Having a strange season so might get something here. Coventry. Really good at home. Only lost 4. Won 9 and unbeaten in 4. Point would be a good result. So maybe 4 but 0 a real possibility. We'd be right in the mix with 0
