For the record! Again!
I do not dislike Kahn because of his Race, Creed, Colour, or Supposed Nationality.
I just can't stand him! Probably in the same way many of you can't stand people you don't like, be it a celeb or someone you work with etc!
I renounce "smelly" because I can see how it may be taken out of context. So I apologise for this! However I cannot suddenly start to like him... I just Don't! This is my opinion and I cannot change it on a whim!
I hate Alex Ferguson, more than Kahn. So what has this got to do with race?
Some of you have taken this completly out of my thought process and frankly I am upset, yet looking back, not shocked some have taken it this way!
Racism is obviously very much at the front of your mind. Whereas my thoughts were revolving around a specific person. Regardless off his colour etc!
I am sorry if some of you have seen it this way. It has not been seen as intended!

You'll have to do a bit better than that. Smelly is not a usual insult to another person unless you're about four years old or a daft racist twat. The fact that he was born here makes him far more British than you are Pakistani (except in the mind of a daft racist twat)
I have a lot of time of for Khan, he could be the inclusive, popular figure this country is crying out for but for the record I think the way he treated his ex trainer and then slagged him off in the week was disgraceful. On second thoughts, maybe you're not a racist but you sure are dumb.

Sheikh, his ex trainer had become part of Gomez's team and was giving inside info on Amir's tactics, weak points etc, which why he was slagging him. Which is fair enough as far as i can see, plenty of boxers split/move on from trainers but you don't expect to see them popping up in the oppos corner.
I agree wholeheartedly with what you said about Amir being someone who can actually bring a bit of unity to our country, anyone who watched that programme where he trained some lads who were going off the rails will know what I'm talking about. Top man.

Games, fair do's you certainly wouldn't expect him to turn up in the opposite corner in the very next fight but he did dispose of him very ruthlessly in my opinion and I think, bearing that in mind, saying nothing would have been the classier thing to do.

On this instance I'll take the second gladly! I'd say Dumb will do!
Dumb for not seeing where this could go!!!
Don't honestly know why smelly was my chosen word of insult. But in hindsight (if only I had foresight) can see its problem!
As for the British-Paskistani comment... I would of used the same type of analogy had he been American, (no more British than I American). Again however, I see the problem!!!
All Said... I still can't stand him! And don't think he could be that figure you are on about.

Fair play Sheikh, i know what you're saying, it was a bit harsh, but boxing is a harsh sport (especially when you have frank warren in your corner, who's decision it was I'm sure!!)
Thurso, (all is forgiven re, the racist card!) but i honestly have never seen or heard Khan being or sounding smug (apart from possibly in the build up to a fight, which as we all know is about ticket sales!) Did you catch the programme i mentoned earlier btw, i think if you had, you may (or may not!!) have a different opinion about him.

Apart from the dual flag display at the olymics which started the dislike. (It's like bigamy)
My main dislike comes from the smugness he displays, unlike one of my boyhood heros Prince Naz, who to me was more human with his cheeky arrogance and quick wit before and after fights!
Never saw the program so can't comment, if it was on sky I had that turned off cause the price is taking the urine!

I think it was on channel four to be honest, have to see if you can get hold of it, was pretty good and you would see a very humble side of him.
I loved Naz as well, still can't believe he just gave it all up after one poor performance, but I have to disagree with you about smugness, Naz was off the scale (which is partly why i liked him so much!1). Imagine utting them both in the ring together, that would have been some fight!! Fair play to Gomez tnight btw, you can't say he didn't give it everything.

Sorry Thurso, I still can't get my head around why, just because you dislike him, you make an issue of Khan's nationality when he is clearly English/British. Yet you fail to comment on Gomez who was Dublin born, raised in England and who changed his surname by deed poll to a Mexican one. Dislike Khan by all means but to cast doubt on his nationality just because you dislike him just seems plain daft to me. Not racist but daft. Well done on withdrawing the smelly remark by the way.

Besides the point that Thurso is an obvious racist cock, what is there not to like about Khan? A superb British athlete, a talismanic, inclusive figure who remains committed to his community and faith yet appeals to the whole nation. Has gone on record to denounce extremism in his own community, yet we have a complete dick head on here describing him as a "smelly twat". Fucking shameful. He's a cocky little prick that need his head boxed in imo.

Fornside. Cheers mate! I am big enough to recognise where I may of said things wrong, leaving myself wide open to misinterpretation! Have addressed this! But just to reiterate my feelings on the nationality thing... Would you publicly go to your wife, wave a photo of one of your ex's in her face, and say she was much better in bed and that you prefer'd her to your Mrs? No! You may think it... But wouldn't say it! THIS is how I felt (and still feel) about the dual flag display. And the same would go for anyone else doing the same! I'm like an elephant and don't forget these things, in the same way I will always hate, Ronaldo, Maradona, Speedie, Crewe, Cardiff, QPR, Andre Mariner and many more! I just don't forget!

Thurso is unmasked as..
Norman Tebbitt - The Chingford Skinhead. ""A large proportion of Britain's Asian population fail to pass the cricket test. Which side do they cheer for? It's an interesting test. Are you still harking back to where you came from or where you are?" - Tebbitt, 1990.

Spot on! only hope it's put to bed now! It's only opinions and differences there-in, and some people need to realise that before reading 2 or 3 posts and making assumptions that someone is a racist! Mud Sticks and when it isn't true, its not nice!

Well I'll accept what you say .
However I will probably get in your bad books for supporting Italy in the Euro's , might even go down to Bar Italia area of Soho to watch the final if they get there . Whilst I have a Family tree stretching back to pre 1066 in england , one of my ancestors married an Italian Aculptor who emigrated here . He was my Grans, great grandad . So i'm 1/32th Italian ... Forza Italia , and if they win, I may even dance around with an Italian tri-colour flag . what a fucking glory hunter I am ;D

No they aren't. Michael Gomez (born Michael Armstrong, 21 June 1977), also known as "the Irish Mexican" or "the Predator", is a professional boxer. He was born to an Irish Traveller family in Longford, County Longford, Ireland, spending his early years in Dublin before moving to Manchester, England with his family at the age of nine. Gomez fights in the lightweight division, having previously fought in the featherweight and super featherweight divisions.[1] During his career he has amassed a number of championship title belts: the IBF Inter-Continental featherweight title; and the British, WBO Inter-Continental, WBA Inter-Continental and WBU super featherweight titles. He was the first Irish boxer to win the Lonsdale Belt outright.[1][2] Armstrong boxed as an amateur before turning professional in June 1995. He was forced to change his name by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) when signing as a professional boxer because there was another boxer in the same weight division with the same name. He chose his ring name in honour of Puerto Rican boxer Wilfredo Gómez, whose videotaped fights Armstrong had studied intently as a youth.[9][11] Gomez's "brawling style"[12] earned him the nickname of "the Irish Mexican". He developed a ring persona based on this nickname, which has remained popular with fans throughout his career. His ring entrance music is that of a Mexican Mariachi band, a reference to his Hispanic-sounding chosen name, and many of his supporters wear sombreros to his fights and wave Irish flags. Gomez also wears long Mexican-style boxing shorts in the colours of the flag of Ireland and often has the shape of a shamrock shaved into the hair on the back of his head en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Gomez
