Just watching some old footage from the punk era that I started playing and performing in.
It brought back some important memories.
It really set my mind to thinking about an important technique that has yet to be discussed here.
As the guy is rushing the stage towards your singer what’s the best methodology?
I would try and get them with the neck in an almost upper cut motion. An almost sweeping effect. Higher than the tuning pegs but with enough neck (think a G on the E string) to concentrate the mind.
I found using just the head/tuning pegs leads to tuning problems for the rest of the song.
I did prefer roundwounds for this.

The sound of a Rickenbacker is wunderbar!
But to play a Mustang is easier.

How I imagine Badger on karaoke. Fine bass though.
Strangely popped up on YouTube after Humble Pie and black coffee!

Article in The Gruaniad today on wedding singers:
Ahh requests. People sure love to make them, usually via mid-song, alcohol-scented hollering (keep smiling). Or they occasionally sidle up to the bass player to try to get a word in; people seem to think that bass players don’t actually do very much and are therefore available for a conversation. They became a bass player so they wouldn’t have to talk to people. Leave them alone.

Always enjoyed the bassline from Club Country by the Associates. He’s a chap having a decent bash at it

Andy Fraser, especially " Mr Big" where Kossoff is equally superb. My favourite bass-line of all time, on my favourite Free track. Tremendous band, all of them. Totally agree on Kossoff, who died shockingly early. Rodgers' voice at that time could make you weep.

Was just about to give a shout to my absolute favourite bass player Pino Palladino, who indeed play bass on Music for Chameleons by Gary Numan in this clip of Partridge and a whole host of other well known tracks👍🏻
