It's just the way Alex Neil is. He was the same with us and I'd imagine at Preston and Norwich before that. He has an abrupt, doesn't suffer fools gladly, manner and he doesn't have a warm personality. I wouldn't be reading much into his interviews regarding looking for a way out. Despite what he did to us I believe he's in The Potteries for the long run. I didn't think he was the best appointment you could have made but he's a decent manager.

Despite what he did to you he still got you promoted when alot had failed before him. It hasn't quite clicked here yet but I think it will, though I understand I'm in a minority with that view at the minute. I have said before I couldn't care less about his personality aslong as things start going right on the pitch and I believe they will once he's got a few of his players in during the window. All the best for the season until you play us ofcourse.

Wright-Phillips? He looked really bright when he came on earlier in the season. He has massive potential and wasn’t even on the bench for the last game (not heard of any injury?) I must have missed that, maybe I was "blinded" by the light Just don't see what he offers...which is a shame 'cos I had high hopes when I first saw him play I take it you don't play football manager then??? 🤣

Realistically with our leaky defence we need a minimum of 2 or 3 goals to register a win. I can’t see an improved defence from that lot. Think we will set up for a bore draw.

He’ll be gone soon. Nathan Jones esque. You honestly think he’ll be gone when he’s just bought in his own goalkeeping coach and the new technical director is his mate🤔Not a chance that will happen,he’ll be here for the long haul

I've just watched the presser and again, he comes across very poorly. Short, sharp and borderline passive aggressive answers to what are pretty decent if not standard questions to a manager overseeing a run of results like this. A bit of humility won't go amiss and I'll be frank here, win, lose or draw I'm starting to really dislike him. Away from all that, he looks like a man under huge early pressure and I feel for him. Another manager tossed under the bus by owners asleep at the wheel. Nothing will ultimately change until they do and the ball is really in their court. 100% spot on I’ve said it before he’s clingy in the press conference without the charm and kamara in the dug out

Yes, he’s very dour and not massively engaging but he answered questions quite openly and I didn’t think he was being passive aggressive at all. Maybe a bit of light humour with the third interviewer highlighting the contrast between his view and that of Ange. Not sure if I heard right, but was he blaming Harry for giving away a free kick that led to the Cardiff goal?

No, he was praising H for making a tactical foul earlier in the game to stop an attack I think. He was basically saying that's what we should have done for their second goal.

I've said several times now I'm not sure Sigmund Freud could get inside his head but 'passive aggressive' is a good start. He looks massively pissed off that he is being invited to answer some perfectly reasonable questions. He does not have a sense of humour or humility as an escape and so he could just spontaneously combust. I can't begin to imagine what it must be like either playing for him or being on the staff. I would want out, quick smart.

I think anyone would struggle to answer these press conference questions, they are often so banal and some often quite ridiculous.
Asking the manager of a Championship club "How important is it get something out of this game'? I mean come on!!!
Despite this I think he answers them openly and honestly, and tries to avoid cliches. I think he really tries to avoid making excuses as well, which is a good sign.
Ive always found Press Conferences painful to watch because they are so meaningless and tedious, I thought I'd check this one out because it sounded like he'd been very rude or arrogant by the the comments. I think he probably finds them a chore but most people would I think.

I used to love press conferences This is the first one I've not watched
if I wanted 8 minutes of awkward confrontational questions that I knew would be met with derision or a passive aggressive superiority complex, I'd have gone into the lounge and asked my wife about plans for Christmas

Once again people calling for a player who isn't playing much, "the grass is always greener"?, yet when he has played, bar a goal against Fulham (which us oldies will remember ) he's done nothing to suggest he should start Wright-Phillips? He looked really bright when he came on earlier in the season. He has massive potential and wasn’t even on the bench for the last game (not heard of any injury?) He was I’ll.

Pretty sure he was saying we should have done what Harry did before in bringing their player down which would have stopped the second goal. I took it as praise for Harry and far from throwing him under the bus.

It's nonsense I'm glad he calls them out because they seriously need to up their game if they are going to bother at all. Its a waste of the manger's time quite frankly. The questions feel like they are written 5 minutes before the start on the back of a fag packet and they seem to forget that they've asked more or less the same question 3 minutes earlier, or they just don't listen to the answers he's already given.

I genuinely don't care who we've got on the pitch. I'll pay my stream fee and regret doing so within the first twenty minutes as we concede a goal that would've been saved by a competent keeper and never climb back since our strikers are unable to move forward. this team is rubbish and it's fucking depressing to watch them each week. transfer window is right around the corner though, hope we make some movement there.

Hounding out yet another manager at this time will not do us any good imo. I agree - but it's what we do. It clearly doesn't work but then chucking good money after bad in an endless cycle of increasingly desperate punts is what keeps the club afloat financially. Unfortunately the same inclination to self harm is knackering us on the field. Still...the next punt can't be worse than the last - we all know that. Don't we?

He praised him for stopping a similar attack previously and suggested someone should have done similar for the goal. The general impression I get is that he just doesn't enjoy these press conferences, and to be fair who would. They're utterly pointless, filled with inane questions that offer very little insight. I actually think he attempts to answer them fairly honestly. The club would be well advised to arrange a longer, one on one, interview with someone who can ask some meaningful questions about his longer term vision to help to buy him some patience.

He certainly wasn't passive aggressive for the bulk of the interview except the last question and response, where he referred to a previous interviewer ( Ange ), in order to disagree with the thrust of the question rather than answering it. I think there's a degree of transference happening from people that don't like him going on.
